That's the advantage of the 19s, which can handle 1500lbs per wheel. But then they are heavier. What did Forgestar say about it?

I'd also love 18s!

hey fellas, just reading this thread because I have 18" Forgestars on my W208 CLK55.

I would think on a C-class it would not be a problem (just as I don't expect any problems on my car), now if we were talking about an E-class or an S-class I would be worried........

ditto on the lightweight comments, I dropped them off in boxes at Discount Tire, when I went back the asst manager walks up to me and goes, "damn those wheels are light!" and this from a guy who hefts wheels and tires all day long!

The GVWR for a C63 with 18" wheels is 4872 lbs. Any of our international friends whose car came with the 19" wheels want to tell us what their car is rated for. It would seem to be concerning that you could easily exceed the max with three average+ sized friends in the car with you.

yeah I guess it might be pretty close to stressing the wheels, I did a couple of internet searches, I had no idea a C-class was as heavy as it is.

came up with about 3,900 lb curb weight for a c-class.

my own CLK55 curb weight is listed at about 3,600 lbs in several magazine articles (GVWR on the car - I just checked- is 4585 lbs).

that actually brings up a question - what exactly is GVWR?

I know the curb weight is the ACTUAL unloaded weight of the car on a scale, so is the GVWR the maximum loaded weight of the car with passengers and payload? anybody know?

GVWR is a rating that indicates the maximum allowable weight by vehicle. Similarly, GAWR is a rating that indicates the maximum allowable weight by axle. Both include the vehicle's weight plus fuel, passengers, cargo, etc.

The C63's GVWR is 4,872 lbs.
The C63's GAWR is 2,469 lbs. per axle, both front and rear.
