SECONDARY CAT DELETE OR RESONATOR??

I know this topic has been discussed constantly, but im going to take in my C63 to a shop this weekend. I wanted to know if i should remove the secondary cats leave the resonator on. Or Remove the resonator and leave the secondary cats on. Im leaning towards removing the 2ndry cats and leaving the resonators. What do you guys think?

How is the sound with just the secondary cat removed and the resonators left on? Any drone? I want the same tone as the stock exhaust, but a louder more aggressive throaty growl when im on the throttle.

Luke, for some reason I don't think he was talking about what a silver BS looks like. The C63 boys have limited imagination and need to see everything with their own eyes before they pull the trigger . Unlike us who don't talk about it and just do it ........just kidding guys, here are some pictures of my set up so you know what it looks like. All you have to do is ask ......

Err....I'll let that slide since you are providing the pics. Is that custom made by an exhaust shop or something pre-made? Looks very nice.

Thanks.

Thanks! My comment wasn't directed at you, but Mr. Know-it-all Chubbs who a little while back argued with me that his glorified H-pipe that replaced his resonators passes as an X-pipe. Now he has pictures what an X-pipe should look like and it's proper location.

Anyway, back to your question. I had everything fabricated and installed at a tuner. I prefer one vendor do everything as it eliminates fitment issues. Takes a little longer, costs a little more, but at the end you get a quality product (look at the welds, the angles of the X and alignment of the exhaust) without any complications down the road. I kept all the OEM parts if I ever wanted to convert it back to stock.

The search will be your friend but as a summary, it appears that the conscensus is:
1-you need either an H or X pipe.
2-The resonators act as an H pipe (there is a thread where someone posted a picture of the inside and there is a hole/pipe connecting both sides). Therefore you can just install straight pipes ILO secondary cats.
3-On top of deleting the secondary cats, some members have removed the resonators and added an X pipe.

I replaced my secondary cats with a GT PRO Single X-Pipe. Great mod that drops some weight, adds a little power down low, sounds fantastic and is reversible if you want to go back to stock.

Your setup sounds fantastic. Any cutting or welding involved?

Damm....I just might have to "bite-it" and pay the extra bucks for the GT Pro Single X for the sake of reversibility.
