I can't remember which article that I read but it did say that when the changeover happens to move to the 5.5tt that the naming will stay C63 which from an marketing perspective is the exact way you want to do it. The current engine isn't actually even 6.3 litres correct?

Within models, naming won't change unless it goes up.

Well there are two reasons that I know of for the current AMG 63, one is in 2008 it marked AMGs 40th anniversery when it raced a 6.3 liter back in the late 1960s and won a 24hr race. The second is this current power plant has 6208 cm and according to German law they have to round it up to 6.3, I guess thats more than less why.
