In Japan Advan Neova AD08 is very popular for turner. I have Advan Sport right now but next Im thinking to get Neova AD08 for sure.
But if you want really high grip but not good life I think best tire I ever had was
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. I had this on my BMW M3 CSL and it was great but not good in rain for sure.

I tried the previous generation of Neovas and they had very sharp turn in response.. RE11s might be a better overall tire though..

Ive heard great things about the re-11. Ive never had a chance to try them out, but heard they are really good.

Getting the RE11 soon, I have done my research and they offer the best wet and dry performance combined in one tire. There are a couple of tire options depending on your size, a few brands/models are really close, so price and style might be a factor too.

I heard that RE11s are not as good as AD08 or Dunlop Z1 stars in breaking

RE-11 and AD08, you can't go wrong with either one, but they will wear out quickly on our cars for sure.

Here is the full chart. Not as good for dry braking but better for wet braking. It's actually so close everywhere, Potenza's by a nose http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=118 but really both are as good and the driver will make the difference.Originally Posted by BFNYM156

now I have Dunlop Z1 stars, very happy with them and they are cheap too, ordered a set of Neova AD08, will find out are they any better

Here is a pricing comparison for each tire for the rear on tirerack (some had no 255/35/18 so went with the popular 265/35/18):
Potenza RE-11: 282$
ADVAN Neova AD08: 262$
Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec: 248$
Khumo Ecsta XS: 225$
The top 3 tires were extremely close and within 30$ or so per tire.

The fronts have a much greater price difference. Seems the RE-11's have come down since I first looked at them. At the time it was over $1150 for a set.
BFNYM156, please let me know of the results, im running star specs now , so comaro to a08 will help,,thanx, mike

I hear they are very similar. I run RE-11 on my GT3. Also hear the sidewall on the RE-11 is stiffer than the AD08 which would make for better turn in.
Former Vendor of MBWorld
Kuhmo XS: Best maximum dry traction, but you sacrifice turn in & precision. quiet & soft
Dunlap Z1: Amazing dry/wet grip. Probably the best bang per buck. STIFF sidewalls
Potenza RE-11: Best all around tire, rated #1 on tire rack for a reason
For all around performance the Z1s and RE-11s are the two best tires on the market. The real decision comes down to tire size. Z1s only come in 18s max, the RE-11s come in 19s. If you are using 18s, the Z1s have amazing turn in and precision and are the best value. They almost make you feel as if you did a suspension upgrade (they are that good). If you are running 19s, get the RE-11s.

I'm running AD08's at the moment, I'm not too happy with them. They are loud (not while driving, but when losing traction (daily occurance)) and I find that to get good grip out of them, you really need to put a fair bit of heat into them.
I got a set of Z1's for the rear next and then a full set of RE11's to try out. So far, I've never been let down by Bridgestone so I am looking forward to those the most.

I've used RE-11s on my M3 and I love it but know I'm trying R888
I haven't used AD08
I think RE-11s has a stiff sidewall as well.

I am on my second set of 19" Re-11' s. Only downside is they get a bit noisy after 1500 track kilometres. Very surprised at how well they wear. I did 15,000 Klm with 6 full track days on the 1st set. (Bald rears and 20% left on fronts.
If your on 19's go 245F and 275R

I am on my second set of Dunlop Star Specs and I will probably continue to use these tires in the future. I ran these tires for 4 track weekends last year but now have a dedicated set of R888's mounted on F14's. I am very impressed with the longevity of these tires and I expect to get nearly 10,000 miles on my current rears including 2 track days. The fronts still look brand new.
On the track, the Dunlops are very balanced (quick and precise turn in with high grip threshold) and most importantly for those of us that don't own a body shop, they reach the limit gradually without providing the Mr. Toad's Wild Ride that occurs with instantaneous loss of adhesion.

Avoid the Khumo XS. I have them as track tires for my Audi and the sidewall is way too soft which makes the steering sloppy. Wish I would of spent some extra $$ and sprang on some better track tires
