C63 pros cons?
Hey everyone, I own an '03 c240 4 matic, and I want to get a C63 next year and I am wondering what to expect. Is it expensive to maintain and are there any problems I should worry about? I want to get one with a warranty but not sure if Mercedes offers a good warranty. WHats your advice?
thanks,

youre gonna spend about 3k a year on just tires maybe closer to 4k. every other year add another 3-4k for brakes which hopefully will go down as time goes on. A and B service a year is about 800. i havent had any real problems with mine. just been tires, gas and scheduled maint so far.

Pro:
Very fast.
Great exhaust note.
Nice interior. Good technology.
Has a nice style.
Reliable at 10K miles. Nothing broken yet. (Knock on wood)
Con:
Cheap leather.
Small cabin and trunk.
Seats are a bit tight if your a big guy. If your a fat guy forget it.
Loses oil faster than the spill in the gulf.
Gas mileage is horrible to say the least.
Its a C class so most people have no clue that you spend almost 70K
The depreciation goes down faster than Monica Lowenski.
Mod's are expensive just because its a MB.
Eats tires every 4K.
After you get used to the speed you want it to go faster!!
Its a great car. You will not be disappointed at all!

Thats just silly talk...
10K miles on my beast and I swapped out the Pzero's for Hankooks. $375 for two rear tires.
Service A at 10K miles is $280.
Breaks dont cost 3-4K. People have purchased all 4 rotors, pads, brake sensors for under $750 USD. There is a thread a couple down with the guy in FL who did.
Im opening a dealer next to your house Savoy!

Also, why are you people eating up tires every 4k... I drive like a maniac, I drive in and around DC which has some of the worst roads in our solar system, possibly galaxy, and maybe even the Universe... I have put 4k on my tires in the last 3 months, tracked it once, done plenty of donuts (heh these are fun), and still have a good amount left in them (they are the stock tires too)
If so take a look at about 5K.... By 6K you will be on slicks. Trust me I used to say the same thing.
Then...

I doubt it's the original set, the car had 14k on the clock when I got it (CPO). They were definately not new though. It's my daily driver as well. Based on the treadwear since I got it, I figure I have about 2 or 3k left on them.
Replacement tires however will be slightly more sensible all season ones, for the upcoming winter.

Better than straight up summer tires, the DC winters can suck, like this past one, but generally we only get snow a 2 or 3 times a winter, and that gets cleared somewhat quickly, and the gov (who I do most of my work with) almost always shuts down for that 2 inches of slurry snow we get :P so I generally don't have to drive in it. I don't want to play the own 2 sets of tires game, summer and winter, partly due to cost, partly due to the pain in the *** changing them.

You'll get a lot of compliments for your C63. It doesn't scream "Hey-Look-At-Me" like a yellow corvette but it's sexy in a subtle way.
I got 8-9 compliments already after only having the car for 2 weeks.
One of the cons is that it's not really a comfortable car especially in stop-and-go traffic. I prefer driving my bimmer or lexus if I just want to get from Point A to Point B.

2013 ML63 AMG PP
Pros:
- Sound of the exhaust! Absolute best V8 sound from a production car!
- Speed. It is very very fast.
- Excellent front seats. They are comfortable and very supportive. Perfect for this kind of performance vehicle.
- Very nice Nappa Leather on seats and door armrests
- Tight handling. You feel like it's glued to the road in real road corners.
- Excellent brakes, they can catch me out and I'm the one driving knowing when i'm braking, yet I sometimes find myself leaning forward into the locked seatbelt.
- Sound from downshifting in Manual mode and hearing a large explosion from the exhausts.
- Unique C63 front end (bumper, hood, fenders) and quad pipes with diffusor make it look mean.
- Listening to your car drive by.
Cons:
- Hard ride. You will feel all the bumps on a bad road though the seats absorb most of the shock.
- High fuel consumption, though I've seen worse and don't mind as much for this kind of performance. City driving is worst and highway driving is not too bad. In fact MB should have given it a bigger fuel tank from 66 litres to at least 75 litres would have been good enough to negate the fuel consumption.
- Tire wear: You'll need to replace the rears possibly twice a year and the fronts once, depending on driving style and conditions. Though I really don't want to complain on this since I do enjoy flooring it every chance I get.
- Finding someone you trust to do a fly by while you listen and watch from the side of the road.
Having a warranty is always good and knock on wood, the servicing has been anything above the norm on my side. My last C-class car was a C280 (203).

As others have said, the sound is awesome.. Especially on the downshifts in manual mode.. I find myself taking the longer route sometimes which takes me through a nice longish tunnel in DC (395 tunnel), switch to manual, drop a few gears and floor it.. the entire tunnel resonates the engine sound...

The exhaust note alone is worth the price of admission. I like the rear diffuser, the aggressive look of the front end. I like how the car blips the throttle on down shifts, I wish that my E63 would do it. The suspension is stiff, and you feel every bump. My E63 has a button to change the suspension settings. I love driving the C63 better then my E63, it is a hoot to drive. I'm very impressed, even though my E63 has more HP and torque, the C63 seems faster. I know its the power to weight ratio, they both have about equal 0-60 mph times. I absolutely love this car. Thank you AMG

For tires just buy some hankook evo 12. great traction, great price from tirerack and about 1.5 to 2x more milage at half the price of the OE tires

2010 C300 4matic
Thanks all for the advice about the C63. I actually ended up leasing a 2010 c300 4matic, because I need to save some money for a c63. I am trying to test drive it this weekend.

Take a look at the "Things you hate about your C63" thread. Might give you some clues about what bothers people. Do remember though that they are a few cons amongst a lot of pros. Otherwise they wouldn't still own the car

I will say this, that car was way more pros, than cons. I've owned my C63 for just under a year, and I still love the thing. When your ready to get, I know that person you should talk to at Euromotorcars of Bethesda.

i agree with mostly everything listed thus far. i do like the sleeper appeal. when people compliment my car, i usually compliment them back for knowing there cars. most people have no idea what a c63 is. helps meet people that actually know something about cars other than mustang camaro corvette.....posers. not that theirs anything wrong with liking those cars but come on......high schools over, time to expand your knowledge of the vehicles available today.
a beef i dont think has been mentioned yet is little room for golf clubs. my set barely fits in there and fitting 2 sets in there takes some planning. i usually just throw the second set (or third) in the back seat. my infiniti g35 sedan easily fits 2 sets in the back and you can get a 3rd set in if you work at it. and the c63 is wider than the infiniti????
a 4 door sedan should be able to fit 2 sets of clubs in the trunk without a struggle.

That's good to hear, the downside is gas mileage, but whatever. I leased my c300 from Euromotors in Bethesda. I dealt with Eric Scott, who do you know over there?

not sure....are there any estates in the US?
but keeping on point. all mercedes should account for golf clubs. for real.....golf/mercedes.....kind of go hand in hand if you think about it.
love the estates though.
there are not too many things i think are funnier than a station wagon waxing a mustang
