Latest mod...
I just had my V1 integrated into my rear view mirror and must say it os one of the best mods I've done to the car. The V1 unit is hidden inside the rear center headrest and the display in in the rear view mirror. Looks and works great and I no longer have the detector on the windshield!
Pic is a little blurry, but you'll get the idea.

Sweet I have been running a similar system in my W210 for about 2 years now. Range is diminished a bit but it still does a damn good job of sniffing them out.

unfortunately, no matter where you hide it, police use detector detectors
So, the question is, using it where its legal, why bother hiding other then for aesthetics, or do you use it in states that ban them?

Anyone who is interested in specifics on where I got it and costs can feel free to PM me for details.
As far as why hide it, I didn't do it to use the detector in states where it is illegal to do so, but to not have a detector on my windshield. Partly for aesthetics and partly so there is not a V1 visible to tempt someone to break into my car and steal it while it is parked somewhere.

I currently have one of the homelink buttons wired as a mute button. (I only use 2 so giving one to this function did not cause any loss of functionality for me.)

This is not the Mid City interface. Theirs puts the display into the instrument cluster (great idea), but unfortunately will only display if you have the display set to the audio information. This is a custom deal using the V1 remote display, remote audio and detector. The remote display is diassembled and modified to fit into the mirror housing and does not lose the compass display. When off it is completely invisible as there is no need to etch the glas on the latest mirrors.

[QUOTE=qship5;4137914]Very nice install! As far as range being diminished, I'm not sure yet, but it definitiel still sniffs them out. Based on your picture, perhaps your range is diminished since the headrest sits so low in relation to the rear deck. QUOTE]
My initial plan was to mount it in the front of the headliner but I couldn't figure a decent way to get it to fit so thats why I went with the headrest. Before I commited to mounting it in the headrest I did some tests by wrapping it in a jacket, setting it on the rear deck, and running by some radar drones. It did lose some sensitivity but not enough to deter me. I've had many saves with it in its current location.
Nice. Although I'm happy with my setup I would have preferred a totally invisible install.
Are you running or planning on running a laser jammer??

Have you had the V1 running with the navi screen up yet? I had a similar setup in my M3 and the nav screen constantly set off the V1's laser detector. I had to disable the laser detection (which was no big deal since the detector was mounted in the headliner and wasn't going to grab laser signals anyway)

Already running a Laser Interceptor. Best countermeasure investment yet!

Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing this mod maybe in the W204 forum and called the company about it (have since forgotten the name) -- the guy who made it (or gets the parts) was even willing to fly to me if I paid or travel/lodging to do the install! Needless to say, it started getting a little pricey, but I thought it was very intense how they were willing to do that. Sent you a pm for follow-up.
