New M5
#5
Im interested in it...to be honest I miss my e46 M3. Mainly the SMG as opposed to the AMG slushbox. Dont get me wrong, I love the raw power of the C63, but I miss the throttle blips and down shifting around corners. Those that had the e46 with SMG know what I mean. Im not interested in the styling of the E63 as much, even with the MCT.
No regrets with the C63 here, I figure Ill just flip flop between AMG and ///M. Im very interested in the X5M right now but Ill def look at the M5.

imho, they need to mate the new TT to the SLS's DCT tranny in the E63s. That may happen someday. A 5.5L TT and a real dual clutch automated manual will make the E63 highly competitive to the M.
Personally, I'm waiting until 2012-13 (or longer, whatever it takes) before really looking closely at either a new E63 or M5.

I was at the M Owners press meeting yesterday in Taiwan.
and they have mentioned the new M5 will come with the same agressive M-DCT tranny. So this means its pre-selected gear double clutch.
the car will come with a 4.4L Twin turbo 576bhp
and a carbon roof.
I have seen on EVO magazine and it mentioned that the SLS is a double clutch but NOT a pre-selected so its just slightly slower.
I'm really excited to see the new M5 and I know it will be another great all around performance car not only in a straight line but also in the bends aswell.
And I got invited to go to Marseille to test all the new M cars too.
I will be heading to France during end of August.

Test drove the 550i recently. Even though it's not the M, the 5 Series continues to have the best-in-class balance of handling sharpness and ride comfort. The W204 C63 is probably Mercedes-AMG's best effort to-date in striving for that perfect balance between handling and comfort, but I think there's no shame in admitting that BMW continues to lead the way in this regard, where sports sedans are concerned.

Will definitely be looking at the F10 M5.
Curious as to how the exhaust will sound with the turbos. Hope that they don't sap the exhaust note too much.
Just test drove the 550 at the BMW Driving Event. Great handling and power, but it was too quiet. Too insulated. Felt like I was driving a 7-series...

Taken from article online,
"The first thing you notice about the 2011 BMW M5 is its size. Compared to the E60 M5 chase car, it's positively huge. It also appears to adapt 2009 BMW 7-series proportions. Does this mean it'll adapt that vehicle's über-conservative styling too? We're not sure yet. What we do know is that the biggest change will come in the engine compartment, click through to find out why."
The e60 m5 is already pretty big, cant imagine seeing it even bigger :O

But once you go up in price regardless of the brand (M5/M6/E63/S63), I find the owners to be much more civil...
I have noticed, however, now that more used E60 M5s (code for affordable) are hitting the market, the M5 forum is becoming more like an M3 forum, with more aggressive and childish behavior...
