IMHO it's a waste of money.. I have this "new style mirrors" in my S550 and they are really not that big deal, they are OK. I personally like the big mirrors...

What a coincidence -- I am a week or so away from receiving these from MBenzNL and was going to do a quicky DIY, but I'm glad you did first so thanks! I'm amazed you got them so cheap, and even if they are used or not in the same color, you can get the shells painted for less than $100 I bet. For some reason I kept thinking that the entire door panel needed to be removed when in fact it's just the corner panel that's only visible when the door's open (having said that, read more below).
I was told by MBenzNL that the 2010 updated side mirrors only come as non-optioned (no folding, no auto-dimming) or fully-optioned (folding, auto-dimming); same price for either. If you have memory seats and auto-dimming already on your pre-2010 model then it's required to get the latter type of mirrors (w/c one would get anyway since pricing is same). I also ordered US spec ones as the euro version has convex glass w/c is difficult to get used to (per RLE); pricing was no different.
Where this gets more interesting (and difficult) is that I also ordered the power-folding switch for the mirrors (only $60). Unfortunately, this requires removing the ENTIRE door panel to install the switch. Luckily, some cool guy posted a DIY on how to do this: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ment-long.html
Once the above is done, the power-folding should operate plug/play. The cool part is that I was told you can get the car coded (Star) to auto-fold the side mirrors when you lock the car. I don't have a really big use for this, but if the dealer doesn't charge a bunch for this coding, I'll do it anyway!
Sorry to hijack your thread, but had a feeling the questions were headed this way.

Thanks for the in depth write up. Im sure it will come in real handy in the future! The new mirrors look great. Id really like to get them at some point although the old mirrors do provide better visibility.

Hey C63dude,
I was doing my install of this and I simply could not wedge the new side mirror onto/into the old mirror foam piece (on the outside of the door). Was there a trick to this? Looking at the foam piece, I wonder if there is a new part for that piece for the new mirror? Thanks.

Hi, I'm new to this forum and own a 2009 C300 4Matic... pewter color...
Are these 'new' mirrors available in that color?
Also, I have a crack on the turn signal of the passenger side mirror (where the light blinks)...so there's moisture building in there...anyone know how I can replace that part?
I asked the dealer and the part itself was $52... but labor is $108...
Thank you.

I'd do this swap mod too, but finding folding mirrors at a decent price is a challenge.
Thx for sharing your experience on this.
