Hello everyone, so today i went in at MB of Chi and got a oil change, after 2 hrs of waiting for them to do the OC and tell me they had to replace the trunk luck because there was a recall on it, the car was ready, and my girlfriend gets in the drivers seat, drives it to the suburbs and at the first red-light we stop after we got off the highway the car started idling really bad, it had never done it before, and there is no messages displayed in the cluster or check engine light, has this happened to anybody else? what can it be?

Let it idle badly for as long as you can. It will eventually set a check engine light, and that's certainly good for diagnosis. Otherwise, the car may straighten itself out and you'll have less info for the dealer when you bring it in for the fix.Originally Posted by tasho3

i let it run for 10 min in P and it was idling fine, but than i started driving it and the first light it started doing i again, i made an appointment with the advisor tomorrow at 11 so i'll let him figure it out

I always have minor vibrations at idle.. only something you could slightly feel at a stop light. I think some other members have complained about the same issue. I was told this is normal for the motor size.

Camshaft sensor maybe?? I would drive it around for a couple of days to see if the rough idle goes away. If not then just take it to the dealer.

thats the first thing that came to mind,i let the car sit in level surface all night and going to check the oil level nowOriginally Posted by exdes
it also seems to do that if they put too much engine oil..
i pop'd the hood to check the engine oil level, and no dipstick? i notice the gear box dipstick in the back, but what about the engine?

There should def be a dipstick. Has the red hoop.

I noticed that had to b engine oil(my c43 has the gear box dipstick there so i thought it would b the same for this, but not) after I pulled it out and the oil is well over the top notch by like an inch, wiped the stick put it in, pulled it out and again well over 1 inch above the top notch, I m taking it in right now to ***** at them! Could this wear the engine? Any effects?Originally Posted by obsidian05e55

took the car in, the head technician took a look at it and they took some oil out, and now the car is fine, i can't believe they would over fill it, now it makes me wonder if they even took the old oil completely out

Find a different mech if possible. If they don't know how much oil to put in your car, how can you trust them to be thorough with something more serious? Its surprising coming from a MB dealer. I change my oil myself so I know it is correct, but I know cars under warranty have to go to the dealer for oil changes. Find a mechanic you can trust.

The Nissan V8's had the same idling concerns whenever the oil was overfilled, even slighty. They even made some noise from the crankshaft slapping into the oil that should not have been there. Glad it was a simple fix.Originally Posted by tasho3

we got the car there and they gave us 3 free oil changes thats why i took it there, its actually 30 min away from me, but after this i m taking it to my local MB and paying out of pocket for a new oil changeOriginally Posted by mrobinso

Man told u to check the oil. Use them but next time check the oil before you leave their workshop - free oil change is free oil change - you can pay and have the same issue

how much is a oil change on the c63? Just about to hit 1000 miles and want to get an early oil change. Thx

i was gonna say if it wasnt the oil, then check the o-ring on the top of the dipstick. if they are rolled over or missing, mb vehicles will have idling issues.

Probably paranoia but can u get a second opinion in the shake you still feel us there. In any case tell the dealer in case of any (unlikely) warranty issueOriginally Posted by tasho3

Mine has a slightly bumpy idle at various times as well. Usually warm. I think it's just the nature of the beast. Most significant misfires will set a check engine light so I think it's just the result of a lean mixture at idle for emissions purposes.Originally Posted by tasho3
