Reasonable amount off MSRP on MY2011 C63 in Canada?
I have been lurking around for a while now, but have not posted yet. I currently drive a 2007 Jeep SRT8, but for the past year or so I can get the C63 out of my head!!
I have expressed my interest to the GM of the local dealership here, but have yet to get any numbers as I still haven’t been in to get an appraisal on my Jeep.
I'm in Nova Scotia, and am curious to know what other Canadian buyers have been able to get off MSRP across the country.
I have a friend that purchased a C350 a couple years ago and only got about $700 off.
Any tips or help would be appreciated!! Hopefully it all works out and I will be joining you all shortly.
Canada gets shafted on allocations compared to the US, so the supply vs demand curve is completely different here.

The reasoning behind that is that the US is Mercedes and AMG biggest market. More AMG cars are sold in the US then anywhere else in the world, even Europe. You have to please the Americans. Sorry Northern Brotha's

You might be able to find a cheaper price South but I've seen stories that some manufacturers won't honour the warranty, not sure about MB though.

I paid full MSRP for my new 2011 C63 ariving in November, but to the dealership's credit I didn't really haggle on price. They did throw in a tint and license plate covers at my request. Good bunch of guys at my dealership here.
As for importing a C63 from a US dealer, I'm sure it could be done with very little additional cost/adjustments (duty, provincial taxes and GST, and cost of changing speedometer etc), although I believe that you need a US address to buy from a US dealer. I just couldn't be bothered.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I have looked into importing and it is insulting what dealers charge in order to get it legal. for exaple $5000 to switch out the speedo from MPH to KPH, $500 for recall letters, etc.
They also need certain child restraint anchors, and I believe there is a different engine immobilizer - not sure if the C63 has the appropirate ones.
It is necessary for these things to be switched by a Merc dealer in order to maintain the factory warranty, and the dealership can still deny warranty work.
They (dealers) strongly discourage buying US.
We still have to pay duty and taxes including gass guzzler - tack on the cost of a flight to go get it and gas, and hotels on the drive home and it really isnt worth it.
Hopefully they will give me good value on my trade to keep me happy.

I'm okay with MSRP or $1000 less, if that is the going rate. Just thought I should check what is the norm. Thanks!
It's actually more expensive to import a new c63 from the US because the MSRP is very close (<$5k).
OP, I expect at most $1500 off your 2011 C63. I got my 2010 C63 $3000 off but I negotiated pretty hard. On my second car, E550 coupe, I only managed to get $2000 off.
I'm from Toronto btw.

Now, a used C63 might be a different story, depending on the deal you can score. Since Canada only gets about 250 C63s/year, used prices are relatively firm for an AMG car. You'll find better deals on older 2008/2009s in the US, I would imagine.
Yes Canadian cars are better equiped
Yes availiblity is low
Yes you will have to pay thousands just to bring it over
Yes MSRP's are similar
Yes you need a US address to purchase
Yes good luck unloading a US car in Canada, as you will likly try to sell it for Canadian pricing for a car that has less options
NO you can not import a new MB into Canada anyway.
Only 1 yr or older car can be imported. So even if you bought a used one it still would not be a great deal. Im not saying you cant find one, but odds are not that good.
We may not get the discounts that the US gets but we dont take the hit at resale like the US does
More product + huge discounts = hit @ resale......
You either get screwed in front or at the rear
