Reasonable amount off MSRP on MY2011 C63 in Canada?
Hey all,
I have been lurking around for a while now, but have not posted yet. I currently drive a 2007 Jeep SRT8, but for the past year or so I can get the C63 out of my head!!
I have expressed my interest to the GM of the local dealership here, but have yet to get any numbers as I still haven’t been in to get an appraisal on my Jeep.
I'm in Nova Scotia, and am curious to know what other Canadian buyers have been able to get off MSRP across the country.
I have a friend that purchased a C350 a couple years ago and only got about $700 off.
Any tips or help would be appreciated!! Hopefully it all works out and I will be joining you all shortly.

I'm in Calgary, and every C63 owner I know paid MSRP. The cars are pretty high demand, so the only time you'll see discounts is around Oct for last year's models. Even then, you're looking at $1000 if you're lucky.
Canada gets shafted on allocations compared to the US, so the supply vs demand curve is completely different here.

Dear Northern Neighbor,
The reasoning behind that is that the US is Mercedes and AMG biggest market. More AMG cars are sold in the US then anywhere else in the world, even Europe. You have to please the Americans. Sorry Northern Brotha's

OK, I'm sure this is a dumb question but can't you just buy one from a US dealer (some of which are offering huge discounts right now) and bring it back to Canada? Aren't all the North American models essentially the same as far as safety regs, etc.?

I was going to ask that same question, but I think that their some differences between and Canadian and an American C63, I could be wrong. Someone school us on this matter?

Hi, I'm in Victoria and have just ordered a 2011 and believe that I'm paying the full MRSP. It's a little difficult to tell as I had a trade but for some reason the dealer wants to take as much money as possible from your pocket! You might be able to find a cheaper price South but I've seen stories that some manufacturers won't honour the warranty, not sure about MB though.

Squig,
I paid full MSRP for my new 2011 C63 ariving in November, but to the dealership's credit I didn't really haggle on price. They did throw in a tint and license plate covers at my request. Good bunch of guys at my dealership here.
As for importing a C63 from a US dealer, I'm sure it could be done with very little additional cost/adjustments (duty, provincial taxes and GST, and cost of changing speedometer etc), although I believe that you need a US address to buy from a US dealer. I just couldn't be bothered.

Thanks for all the quick replies!
I have looked into importing and it is insulting what dealers charge in order to get it legal. for exaple $5000 to switch out the speedo from MPH to KPH, $500 for recall letters, etc.
They also need certain child restraint anchors, and I believe there is a different engine immobilizer - not sure if the C63 has the appropirate ones.
It is necessary for these things to be switched by a Merc dealer in order to maintain the factory warranty, and the dealership can still deny warranty work.
They (dealers) strongly discourage buying US.
We still have to pay duty and taxes including gass guzzler - tack on the cost of a flight to go get it and gas, and hotels on the drive home and it really isnt worth it.
Hopefully they will give me good value on my trade to keep me happy.

2010 C63
I ordered my 2010 in November of last year and managed to get an $800 discount. I went to 2 other dealers here in Vancouver and they said they would not give any discount. I think if you basically tell them that you are willing to pay $500-$1000 less than the MSRP, they will rather get the deal done than risk having you go somewhere else. Just don't expect any more than that.

I'm okay with MSRP or $1000 less, if that is the going rate. Just thought I should check what is the norm. Thanks!

I ordered my 2010 back in February for June delivery. I managed to get $1500 off, free winter mats and employee pricing for the trunk tray and wheel locks. Depends on the mood of the guy in the office. Apparently he had his first grandchild that weekend.

It's actually more expensive to import a new c63 from the US because the MSRP is very close (<$5k).
OP, I expect at most $1500 off your 2011 C63. I got my 2010 C63 $3000 off but I negotiated pretty hard. On my second car, E550 coupe, I only managed to get $2000 off.
I'm from Toronto btw.

A new C63 is not worth importing from USA - the Canadian price of a C63 is virtually on par with USA, especially after you factor in equipment levels. By the time you pay GST/PST/6.1% customs duty and do the minor conversion items required, you've got a car that you saved $0 on and now you're stuck with a US car in Canada - good luck unloading it!
Now, a used C63 might be a different story, depending on the deal you can score. Since Canada only gets about 250 C63s/year, used prices are relatively firm for an AMG car. You'll find better deals on older 2008/2009s in the US, I would imagine.

I got mine for 5%off MSRP... Calcite white on black with Premium & back-up camera. It's closed to 4000$ off. But to get that deal, my sister also bought her ML from the same dealer @ 5% off.

To confirm on some issues and inform on others..
Yes Canadian cars are better equiped
Yes availiblity is low
Yes you will have to pay thousands just to bring it over
Yes MSRP's are similar
Yes you need a US address to purchase
Yes good luck unloading a US car in Canada, as you will likly try to sell it for Canadian pricing for a car that has less options
NO you can not import a new MB into Canada anyway.
Only 1 yr or older car can be imported. So even if you bought a used one it still would not be a great deal. Im not saying you cant find one, but odds are not that good.

if you live near the border you can just buy a car from the states and drive it with states plates. I see a lot of people doing that here in vancouver

^^ To have a US license plate, don't you need a US home address? And once you changed the US plate to Canadian plate @ the Ministry of Transportation office, don't you have to pass inspection & pay taxes? I think at the end, it's still costly.

We may not get the discounts that the US gets but we dont take the hit at resale like the US does
More product + huge discounts = hit @ resale......
You either get screwed in front or at the rear
