New MB owner and just hoping to gather as much info as possible b4 delivery day

Hey Everyone

Ive been reading tonnes and tonnes off this forum and its been unreal the amount of information that ive already learn.

I hope these questions don't sound too stupid, but i really am just trying to learn as much about this car as i possible can before i actually pick it up and drive it off the lot. Long story short i just recently ordered a 2011 C63 AMG, with all the bells and whistles PP package, Nav, Multimedia, etc...

Some of the major questions i had were:
Idle time, how long should i be letting the car idle before its considered "Ready to drive"?

Best way to break it in? (Drive it like u stole it / or baby it for the first 1000km)

Id appreciate any comments of anykind.

Thanks

Just use your noggin and don't beat on the car for the first several hundred miles. I found it eaiser to control the rpms in manual mode...the kick down is off. If in C or S mode ..it's so easy to mash a little too hard and gear down reving higher than you want.
If longer trips are taken....vary the revs by switching to lower/higher gear.
I would not set the cruise for extended periods of time at the same mph....unless you change gears....
Let the rpms increse as you rack up miles.
I don't know if it matters, but after a long drive I try to let the beast idle for a short time before switching the car off..
Enjoy your ride!
Not to hi-ack, but my car is still new (less than 1300 miles) I am wondering about oil changes.
Does Mercedes send the AMG cars out with break-in oil...? or is it Mobile 1?

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the AMG family.

-The way i broke in the car the first 1000miles i didn't abuse it, and i always drove it in C mode. The break in Procedure is usually for the drivetrain, the engine could take the abuse. Some people say drive the car hard so the computer adapts to your driving style, But i played it safe. You will actually get the break in procedure sticker placed on the top left corner of your windsheild, and it tells you how to break in the car properly.

-Let your car run in idle for a couple of minutes on cold start so your engine oil warms up before you drive enthusiastically. I usually wait until it reaches between 100 - 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

-Put some extra cash to the side for rear tires. Trust me, your going to need it.

-And by some good wax to keep it nice and shiny.

-And most important of all....ENJOY THE HELL OUT IF IT!!!

Wow awesome thanx alot for the speedy replies, i knew the warming up process was a little important.

Read lots on that but on one really said, what the temp needed to be at before it was a go. thanx AMG. And im gonna feel slightly guilty saying this but i got a sweet package when i bought the car that covers wear and tear for the first 2 yrs and 40K, which includes tires.

But i will be putting away tonnes and tonnes of money aside for all the little toys and tuning you can get for this bad boy. Im gonna honeslty say i haven't really had the chance to fully experience this car yet, cause even on the test drive, the traffic was heavy. But it was enough to say BUY ME.

Anyways thanx a million for the quick replies, i gurantee i will be on here more frequently and with a thousand more questions.

so you somehow got a package to cover tires for the first 2 years?!? that's freakin crazy

how far does the coverage go though? before your 2 years end, can you replace the seats? there will be wear on the driver seat especially.

Just make sure you properly warm up the car, then drive it HARD.

You're going to get opinions all over the place when it comes to breaking-in the car. I've always believed in the hard break-in. We have 3 C63's (2 P30's and 1 P31) between a few friends that went through a hard break-in and doesn't consume oil. Other 63's go in regularly, some as frequent as monthly, for an oil top-up at the dealer.

Hard break-in is not abuse. Drive the car easy till all temps (water AND oil @ 80C) before driving it hard. WOT up the rev range, downshifting to keep the revs up under braking. If I didn't take delivery of my car in the middle of winter, it would've went to a track day right from the dealer, the ultimate break-in.

Sweet thanx for all the advice, its almost painful right now waiting for the car haha.

My current car has seen some years on the road, driver side door just crumped on me resulting in an acrobatic act everytime i enter and exit the vehicle. Good times good times =).

Regarding the temp, switch your center gauge to show you the oil and water temp. When it does not blink anymore means you have green light to let it rip.
Welcome to the club and don't forget to post pics when you get it.
