RANT - not a f-ing parts department!!!

Guys,

Sorry to go off here but I have to vent. As many of you know 1st hand I have open in the past in trying to help all of you on certain MBZ parts that I can get access to in Europe which might not be available in the US. This is how the whole Euro Console upgrade project got started. I have no problem doing this as I like to help out fellow C63 owners and MB fans where possible. I have also provided pricing to some others on different parts when asked in hopes that pricing here is cheaper than at stealerships in the US. I do so as I have a very good contact at MBZ here who considers me a friend and is willing to do things most service advisors would not do. Can you imagine a service rep at US dealership allowing a customer to order 20+ center consoles plus misc parts, provide a blended price (parts included, not seperate = savings of $70+) and the do it without tax? Hence why alot of you now have the consoles that you do and I think this has been a success for all involved and I have enjoyed helping out on this.

Anyway, what has set me off here is that a certain member who will remain nameless sends me emails asking me to get price on ROW airboxes (which I did provide - $386.00) and then sends a follow-up email asking whether I have ordered them or not? and I should do so if I can get them for a certain price(I guess the $386.00 price). He then asks if this price includes shipping! WTF! I have repeated in emails that airboxes will be expensive to ship and that this person should have a Fed-Ex or some other courier company to ship these as this is the only way possible. That is IF I decide to take the time to order the boxes, pay for them in advance, package them up and the prepare paperwork for shipment as the price above was without VAT tax and requires export documents. The Czech post will not except them as they are too large for parcel shipment. No response to the question where they have shipping account and that I should look up shipping price and get cheapest way possible as there is no rush! Geeze, thanks for been so understanding. Like I have nothing else better to do than this.

Why am I pissed here..simple. This member who wants the airboxes seems to think I am some sort of MBZ supplier or something and that I am obiligated to get pricing, shipping estimations, purchase the product, spend the time preparing paperwork for shipment, and then taking the time to go and ship the f-ing things! I do not do this as business and have never made a cent doing any of this. In fact with charges by PayPal and other things I have probably lost $100+ or more on the console project alone. No big deal and not worth talking about. That been said, I have a regular career and family where my time is limited at best and is precious to me so why does this member think I should jump on his needs like I am some part supplier or something.

I consider alot of you "friends" (in virtual sense) as I have never actually met any of you, and I am always glad to help with part information/pricing whenever possible. Almost all members are appreciative of this and have been very kind and supportive on other mods that I have done. That is what this community/bulletin board is all about. Helping out and sharing information and experiences while repecting each other. That been said, I want to make it clear to a certain member that I am not here to supply pricing/parts at their demand and that my time is my time. This simply pisses me off!

Sorry for the rant, but this sort of behaviour by this member IMHO is counter-productive to what MBWorld is all about. I wanted to make a point here. All this aside I am here to help out all of you on Euro sourced parts when asked - all I ask in return is that people respect that I do this as a favor to them and that it be treated as such.

Dave

Dave, I thank you for all you've done for the community.

Don't let one or two bad apples ruin your day. Just ignore their requests. You don't owe anybody anything.

Don't worry Dave, I am with you 100% on this one. If someone wants to be a dick, then I say let them.

Harrower> I've seen some of the posts where it's clear that you're going WAY above and beyond what any MBWorld member should be expected/asked to do for fellow members. I'm sure lots of folks appreciate that.

I supply parts once in a while to members and I must say everyone has been a great transaction so far. What he seems to be asking for is not out of line for me, but if I was doing it as a favor for someone it would be different. I would just part ways with the transaction. There is no point helping a demanding person who you are doing a favor for. Once he finds out how much of a pain in the *** it is to get overseas parts then maybe he will change his attitude. I am also keeping in mind there is always two sides to a story

JonMBZ, I could not agree with you on most of what you have said. I too have found members to be great to deal with with respect to paying and be patient etc. Do you make $ on the parts you supply members? I don't - I provide the end cost of what MBZ charges me plus shipping. As I said in original post I have lost money on the console shipments, but nothing worth complaining about. I have no interest in making $ on this sort of thing as I believe in the old "pay it forward" concept. I don't consider any of of the past parts I have bought and shipped as a transaction - just favors. The really funny thing about this is that the other member seems to think we had agreed to some form of transaction on the airboxes - I never agreed to buy/ship them at all.

Just a rant thats all. I guess spending a Saturday afternoon boxing up/labelling and doing paperwork for the next console order has me somewhat on edge and then to get this sort of email, just set me off. Probably time to head out, put some hard miles in and burn some gas!

Thanks and you are absolutely right...almost all members are stand-up guys (gals?) who are very appreciative on anything you do for them. Good bunch of people.

I would have thought for sure there'd be more follow up to number 4, but I guess this is a family forum.

UBC. And when was the last time the Czechs beat the Canadians in hockey?? LOL

Seriously though, you've done your reputation a lot of good on MBWorld by helping out so many people, and you have a nice looking family there.

Dave = stand-up guy. You should start a small MB parts sourcing biz and pay a couple Czech kids to run it. I think you'd do well - its hard to find trustworthy people to do business with!

I do make commission, but the dollar amount would add up to less than pocket change considering the volume we put out. The only reason why I would put up with it is because it's part of my job and I am use to dealing with people of the likes all day, BUT if this was my free time doing a favor with no profit I wouldn't stand for it for a second I still do consider most of what I do favors, but I also keep it professional when representing my company.

Seriously, if I ever asked someone to order me something, I would understand that they would be helping me out at their convenience -- not mine.

It's called consideration.

I know I'm not perfect, but I can understand how TS feels.

I haven't been on this forum very long and one of the first things I noticed after joining this forum was that TS does a lot of favors for people. I just figured he was a nice and thoughtful guy.

Anyway, thanks for being such a supportive member on here, TS.
