any confirmation on the p31 package? that would make the motor spin faster and feel more responsive.if not the full p31 package, maybe the builder dropped in the forged internals by accident.anything is possible.i was talking to my mechanic yesterday about the p31,and the results of tuning it.would it go from 480hp to 517 ,or more since it has the lighter internals.does anyone on here have one thats tuned?it would be interesting to see the results.

More like 530. Talk to Bruce at TTM and get an OE tune. Dyno and post the results! I wanna put an end to this mystery of the 2010's!

^ I witnessed a P31 on a dynojet, a reliable one that many folks have used, myself included, many times. It pulled about 425 whp, I think tq was around 385, maybe a bit higher. So clearly it's making more than 480 bhp. From what I recall the main reason for the hp increase was the increase of the throttle body opening, if not 100%, then something close. I don't think tuning a P31 will get you much more, without some type of exhaust mod.

I agree. One of the main reasons that E63's have a higher hp potential than a tuned C63 is because the E63 has larger diameter exhaust pipes. So, to match the power capability of the E63, the C63 would most likely need larger, more free flowing exhaust.

I've got a 2010 C63 (Feb build, Apr delivery) and mine made 254rwkw stock with 290rwkw on a tune.

I'd like to see back to back testing; same day, same settings, same operator of a 2009 and these "new" spec 2010 C63's you're talking about.

I don't see any reason at all for MB to increase the power in C63's when they're already detuned because they would kill the upper market E's etc, specially without telling anyone....and more importantly without charging any extra.

I,ve handled more c63's in my premises then anyone else has,but its true,2010's seem to push more horses. What mb has done is a mystery at the moment as i,m tryin to get some solid information on engine specs from mb on the 2010,and we are looking at the software as well, one thing i do know as we can log the tune on the mainline dyno with our bus can logger, compared to the older ones, the 2010 runs alot less igntion timing, generally this can be becuase they bumped the compression up making the cylinders more efficient, resulting in less ignition timing more horses, this is just my theory at the moment till i find out the engine specs.

I may have a 2008 coming in,in the next few weeks it will be interesting to see the difference back to back same day

Well it has to be a hardware change if anything. It can't be software because if it was a tune should produce less improvement.

Curious to see if you find anything different.

It sure seem like it. Nice work! I went from a 2009 to a 2010 and my butt dyno felt more power but I figured it was just a new car feel. I got a tune from OE with K&N's and Airbox mod and im putting down 447 as well. (See my dyno thread, ignore Jon *****ing)

If Jon, who has a 2009, with the exact same OE tune, can get himself to the Dyno we can have some more results. The real world result was my car was faster tune for tune. He discounted the K&N's and box mods as doing anything. So tune for tune the 2010 was faster in real world even with a 100+lb difference in my car.

Love your Dyno machine btw. Interested to see your fan setup up front.

Your defanantly right there,i drove both 2010's home for 2 days before i even dynoed them,in fact the first one wasnt dynoed for 3 days,i ended dynoing it on a trade night,as i hold trade nights,i was explaining to the crowd that the average power outage on a c63 in std form is between 255 to 265rwkw,when i ran it up,it made 291rwkw,my jaw literally dropped,i knew driving it home and baack for 2 days,it defanantly felt quicker then the others,i was right ! ,i will take some pictures of my dyno faan and post it in this thread.

i think you maybe right sonny, rumour has it that the c63 now uses the same bottom end as the sls. When i was ordering my exhaust gaskets melb ho changed all amg 63 sale procedures, where as before you could just order parts now its become model specific. I assume this is because there has been a change in the engine? Any chance any of these cars going to the track soon to kill the curiosity? Either way thats some awesome power for a tune only.
