Buying Advice
Hello All,
I've been shopping around for a new car for some time, recently drove a C63, and pretty much fell in love. Now the challenge is finding a good deal on a 2010. I found one that's being offered at ~$16k off sticker, for an asking price that's a shade under $54k. I would appreciate any feedback on whether this is a good deal on a 2010 and where you think I should make my opening offer. From reading other threads, it seems like the discount range vs. MSRP is $16 - 20k these days, but I'm not sure what the right number to counter the advertised price is -- I'm trying to save some $ while still being taken seriously. This is the first new car purchase I've negotiated, so I guess you could say I'm a newbie in to the brand and, more generally, to the car buying process. Thanks in advance for any guidance you give me.

That is an outstanding discount, I got $12,500 off my C63. I would offer them 52K and work from there. Remember that they want to move inventory, so wait until the end of the month, and they will be more then ready to make a deal. But if there inventory of 2010 C63 is a few cars, then don't wait to long to buy. You snooze you loose type of deal. 54k is still a great price on a C63, mine was 57K. Are you putting down any money?

Thanks for the god advice; unfortunately they're down to 1 or 2 of the 2010s. I'm going to try and avoid putting money down if I can since rates are as low as they are, but since this is my first auto loan, I figure I will have to. Maybe 10%.

If I was you, I would go in there and start setting up a deal, or at least put $250 down for them to hold the car for you, until you decide. Because, if they have 1 or 2 C63, there is a good chance, that someone will buy it before you. So tell me what color is it, what options, etc?

Black exterior, tan interior (hopefully the leather will hold up, particularly with me typically wearing jeans on weekends -- seems other people say it'll be ok if I'm diligent with cleaning, though). It has premium 2, multimedia, metallic paint, AMG leather, and keyless go. I was hoping to get one with the LSD, but I might just find an aftermarket solution next year at some point (if I'm feeling adventurous with the warranty).

My C63 has the same options, but with Obsidian Black, which is a metallic black. The Sahara Beige leather (The leather will hold up, if your diligent about keeping it clean). P2 Package, MM, and Keyless Go. The only way to get when with a LSD, is to buy the Performance Package, and this is a extra $6K. Your better off looking to Quaife http://www.quaife.co.uk/ as an aftermarket deal. I can tell you this, you don't want to mess with anything that could void your warranty. AMG are expensive as hell to fix, if the warranty is voided. You could always have Mercedes install one for you. The C63 is less complicated then me E63, with all it's electronics and air suspension. Unless your going to be tracking your C63, in my opinion you don't need a LSD, for everyday driving. But, it's your call!! But I do wish you luck in purchasing it, better get it before it gone though.

Actually it turns out the car is Obsidian black; very nice color and nice to hear that the leather will hold up. I'd imagine the AMGs are pretty expensive to fix, so I may just settle for going without or, as you suggest, see what MB can install. I'm probably going to track the car from time to time and also wouldn't mind the traction benefits in the winter (not that I'm going to drive in the snow even with the LSD, but still, the added measure of safety).
Planning on trying to negotiate a deal tomorrow -- let's see what happens.

I wouldn't start adding components that could possibly void your warranty. Any AMG will be more expensive to repair compared to an ordinary C Class. Just remember this, if it has AMG on it, it's expensive. Out of all the AMG, the C63 is the less expensive to repair as compared to the E63, S63, SL63, CL63. I just got my permanent plates yesterday. What part of the country do you reside? I really like that you'll this car, I know that I do. These cars do tend to eat rear tires, and consume lot of fuel, but you knew that before buying it. Let me know how everything turns out.

MB GLK 350 4matic(FOR SALE), 2010 C 63 AMG(FOR SALE)
You won't regret getting this car. Your price sounds good but as stated, there is always room to negotiate. No harm in asking. This is a great car. Fun to drive and loads of power and torque. I have a couple thousand miles on mine and thought I wouldn't put mods on it other than cosmetic things. I just recently decided to get my ECU upgraded. I never did it with other cars but I figured what the heck. Good luck with you venture. You will not regret it!

Thanks again for the advice -- I'll be cautious about adding things. Glad to hear that you're both happy with yours; I put a bid in Saturday, so I may join the club soon.

Thanks again for your help. I had a pretty bad experience with the dealer I was working with (Rallye in Roslyn, NY), which I will detail in the general forum because it may be helpful to all potential buyers. Thanks to a great experience at Rosner Mercedes in Fredericksburg, VA, however, I am now the proud owner of a C63. Basically the same car minus metallic paint (it's regular black), plus Teleaid / mbrace, and with a black interior. Now it's time to find a place near southwestern CT to get a clear bra done.

Well congrats, I'm glad that you got your C63. Awesome car isn't it? I love the power the exhaust note, the seat that hug you to death. Enjoy...
