HJC are decent helmets. Definitely not as nice as my Arai and Shoei's, but they aren't junk. They are a good second tier.

That's a good question. I looked at the Performance Tour and while it seems they use the same batch of cars, I'm not sure its the same curriculum as the Driving Academy.

don't get me wrong, the helmet is very cool
and was *earned* in a very cool way , but i can actually *use* an iPad on a daily basis. I'd look like a complete dork wearing that helmet while commuting. 
A safe dork, to be sure, but a dork none the less.

i would have requested some team orders so i could come in second

Very cool! Where did you do the academy? I saw all the AMG's lined up when I was at Laguna Seca at the AMG academy there and we considering doing it, but it's almost $3,500 
The Audi driving experience is only $2,200 for 2 days and you get to drive the R8.

Congratulations gravedgr, great effort.
The iPad may have much more use but I’d take the Helmet any day, it’s customized and a great memento of the day.
The iPad will soon be relegated to the back of a cupboard by its replacement gizmo, the Helmet will live on.

Are you serious? 3500$ to attend the AMG academy? At that price, everyone should get to keep their helmets... hehehe!

They offer discounts on the AMG Private Lounge. I did not have to pay that much to attend. It was a blast driving the SLS.

I think an AMG helmet is worth more than any iPad. Cool that a forum member cleaned up and took home top prize. Serious AX'rs can drive.
