Variable cam timing in our cars may if fact lessen the affect of lobe separation a little in the lower rpm range. Best of both worlds to an extent.

FYI - Our intake manifold has NO room for improvement. AMG did their homework on that part. It flows plenty and trying to port it could actually hurt performance. Thats why no one will offer a ported intake.

Just an FYI - the cams WILL require a new tune. You are not going to want to start it without a new tune with new VCT tables.

You can hear the difference for sure. Those test pipes are gangster - I say keep it that way ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
So what's being done now, Keith? Final tuning/data logging etc ?

We are waiting for the new tranny file so he can adapt it so I can bring her home!!
We had to put a whole new stock tranny and converter in so it requires some new file. Won't have that until tomorrow. Hopefully pick it up tomorrow and get some hours on it and then the dyno maybe this weekend. Will keep you updated.

Guys,
Please keep in mind how much track and dyno time this car has seen(over 26,000 miles). Then we slammed it with nitrous.
It needed a refresh and the place I got the tranny from(rebuilt to stock specs and dyno tested) requires you get a new converter with it. If I am going to go back after the N/A record I wanted to start fresh. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
On motor only this tranny is fine. We just killed it with the nitrous and over 700 rwtq at times. It didn't like that. Geeze, wonder why?? LOL

Dad63,
How much a new transmission cost(ballpark)? The only transmission that I am aware that holds inmense torque is the one from the V12 twinturbo engine but I bet it probably wouldn't fit plus it got to be expensive as hell.
I heard your cam iddle video and it sounds great, it sounds like apowerstroke turbodiesel with that exhaust but definately can hear the lopey iddle. Good luck with the project.

Interesting Update:
I have to start by saying that the mechanic that works on my car is an excellent professional but not a performance nut. He likes the car and enjoys working on it but doesn’t see the need for all the extra power. He called a little while ago and said the cams really woke up this car and that it is much stronger. Keep in mind he’s driven this car a lot and never commented on the power level. For him to comment like that it must be significant.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Its staying the weekend at Jerry’s because its seeing misfire codes because of the cams and MHP will have to get the misfire codes stopped or minimized because when it sees the misfire it shuts down that cylinder. It eventually keeps dropping cylinders until it won’t run. Needless to say it has to have more software changes. This is version 1.
It was comical to hear Jerry talk about the performance due to his personality and that he even noticed the power difference and commented on it. I am stoked!!![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I know some will say this thread is useless without proof and I am working on it as fast as I can. You know I will post dyno sheets and 1/4 mile times as soon as its complete. LOL

Your cam videos sound great. And the test pipes look and sound amazing.
Take all the time you need to dial her in and then I'm sure we all can't wait to see what she runs at the track. I'm sure the NA record is within your reach with these new beautiful cams.
