Dang, it's been 1 week now & still at customs?? Anyone from Canada can chime in & tell me if importing knock-off is accepted?

X2 with what Sincity just said. Be careful when pushing in the rear pins. I had to pry open one of the rear panel to put back the locking mechanism. It does not take much force to take the wire out of the round clip that is attached to the door.
I used electrical tape to make the end a bit thicker and it now holds on there fine. Mine stick out half an inch in the back.

How about when they are locked? Do they look totally sunken in like one of the pictures shown or are they flush with the door?

I can't guarantee fitment on these but they look similar to the
the aluminum pins that do fit.

Edit: Not sure if AMG is etched on these pins.
^ AMG is not etched anywhere, they are clean.

I got the chrome ones mentioned in this thread, fronts sit perfect, nice and flush when locked, the rears, the originals came off quite nicely, don't think there at all damages, took a lot of force though. The new ones, I was unable to do the 'double pop' but might give it another go eventually. My rears stick out about 1/4 inch as well, very hard to grab when locked, they are not on 'tight' but they held in there ok, they will not go anywhere unless pulled off when unlocked. pictures below...

Thanks for the pictures. I just wanted to make sure they line up like they are suppose to before I install them when they get here.

My rears will not seat securely to the pin. They just sit on top and I can't get them to pop on. Anyone else?

I guess you are right Jeffield. I got most of my CF parts from Taiwan, transiting through Toronto... and never had problems.

I can't believe they are holding a 35$ door pins. BTW, do you know what Customs will do with them if they are not approved?

As per emericr, you will have to take apart the door panel to fix it properly. I am in the same situation.

I just got mine today... Vancouver customs finally released them after a whole week * woot woot * ... hope you wont have any problem van rider!!

The fitment is not great though... as emericr did, I wrapped the end with electrical tape to make sure they don't move in the doors.

The back is not easy to install, I can't get mine to pop in all the way... but I like the way they stick out... plus the electrical tape is making them more secure.

My fronts sit way lower than that. Sure you screwed them down all the way?

Is there a DIY for taking off the rear panels? Any clips that will break in the process that I should have on hand when I dive in? As it stands now, my rears fly off when my kids shut the doors so I have to solve it.

Under the door handle, there are two Torx screws (forgot which size) that you will need to remove. You then slide either a plastic interior trim wedge or a plastic putty knife in between the trim panel and door shell and pull the trim panel away. It will make a loud "pop" noise but don't worry. Some of the clips (orange in color) may break but none of mine did. Before popping the trim panel back on, make sure none of the clips are attached to the door shell. They should be attached to the trim panel when popping it back on.

did any of you try to call Mr. Lee the seller? I saw his phone number on the package and wanted to call him in person to verify the install process. Maybe we are all doing it wrong?

No need to. Install process the same as with OEM AMG pins.

And does that process necessarily entail removing the door panels? No biggie if it does, I just want to know for sure so I can be done with this super important performance modification once and for all.

Well, what exactly is the OEM AMG pin process? So far, I have only got the info from the board without actually seeing a manual. What if we are all wrong? What if the "two-pop" process was never in the manual? Given that so many people have problem with the rear pin install, it would be nice to find out exactly what to do

I was under the impression that the install process was the same for the OEM AMG pins.

Well, not really. Just remove the Torx bolts and instead of starting at the bottom, you can pop off half of the top to access the lock mechanism and reattach (the cable with the ball end just needs to be slid into it's holder. Very simple and it will be apparent to you once you hold it in your hand).

I did it on purpose so it matches my rear... since the rear doesn't pop in any lower. I secure it by adding electrical tape on the base so it doesn't fall off.

I actually like the look, and I'm too lazy to remove my door panel.

My pins arrived today and I attempted to pull off the factory plastic ones. I started in the rear since from what I have read, they just "pop off" and back on again. I pulled pretty damn hard and they didn't come off. So I wrapped some tape around them and used some pliers to get a little more strength on the pull. Same deal...I felt like I was going to break something.

So for those who have done this, how hard do you have to pull?

And for the fronts do they screw off or do you turn and pop them off?

Thanks guys!
