New 2011 P31 C63 (Fog light question)

Hello everyone....new to this forum as I just took delivery of my C63. Had a 2006 M3 and made the switch over to the C63. Just went over 1,000 miles so I'm finally getting a chance to experience the car.

First question...I want to change headlights and fogs to 8000k. I know headlights are an easy bulb switch. But I heard from MTEC that their product won't work on my fogs (because my fog lights come on when I turn on my turn signal and when I turn the wheel).

So...are they right? Is there someone else I can get 8000k fogs and not have an issue because the lights come on when I turn or put on turn signal?

I know this has to be covered somewhere...but thought I'd ask first. Take it easy on me for asking...I'm new here.

Attached are 2 pics...both are phone pics so they're not the best. One was taken the day I got the car and the other pic is next to my father's new Flying Spur Speed. (I think I can take that 600hp Bentley)

congrats!! it looks like a very familiar car to me
it looks like our cars are twins--did you get CF trim and LSD too?
Also, who's your engine builder? No one has my guy, maybe he built yours too since it's P31 and a 2011.

Cograts again--sorry I can't help with the lights, but I'm sure someone will chime in!

BTW I'm a huge fan of the Bentley too--I bet there's no complaint about that cars interior!

The fogs only illuminate during turns, if you have the switch in"AUTO" mode.. Just turn the fogs on manually, and you won't have any issues with the HID kit..

Attached is a pic of my engine builder. I could not justify the $2500 price tag for the little bit of C.F. interior trim. I went with Aluminum trim. I did get LSD as I plan to take this baby on the track.

Thank you for your insight Obsidian05e55...I figured the upgraded fogs would still work, but I didn't want to do something wrong. Guess I'm just nervous about messing something up with lighting system.

we have different engine builders--I figured it was a long shot!
how do you like the aluminum trim?
the cf trim is over priced, but I think it ties in with the cf spoiler so well and it dresses up our interiors a little bit, but each his own

I'm very happy with my car and I just passed my 1000 mile mark and have been pushing it a bit more--I am very pleased.
I've read about others C63s activating traction control a lot and I haven't expeirenced this too much.

I feel like the LSD helps limit this, but maybe its the new tires too--I don't know, but it is a fun car to push

Yes, both our cars appear to be exactly the same except the interior trim. You made great choices!

Don't find traction control to be happening much either, but I know I'm being soft with the car as I've only had it 2 weeks. I'm sure I'll find myself being more aggressive, thus finding traction control braking cutting into the performance.

I install 10000k fog lights and yea you need to turn on your fog light manually everytime you step into your car. THere a few modification you need to do to install HID's expecially with the H11 fog light clip but either than that it pretty easy to do.

Can you access the bulbs without removing the bumper?

When I wrapped my bumper I took off the whole thing to get to the bulbs, but it is possible to get to them through the wheel wells. Having the car on a lift or jack stands would also be a help.

Yes, I've changed my fogs without removing the bumper. It's about 10 minutes each try. But that's with just regular halogen bulbs. I'd imagine HIDs would take longer if you want to mount the ballasts and get the wiring set up.

HID fogs

It's pretty easy and you dot not have to remove the bumper just the wheel liner. The tricky part is modifying the adapter to fit the HID bulb. Either than that it takes about 30 mins each side including modifying the adapter.

Good Luck!
