Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust: Official Update Thread
#30
Nice but not worth it. Just shows you how well the catback portion of our exhausts are. The slip-on which is basically after resonator back only makes 5hp and saves 19lbs...I bet itll cost 3,000. For that you can get longtubes and probably save 25lbs and +40-45rwhp.

There are those who are trying to get best bang for the buck and there are those who can afford to choose the best that is offered for the car. I surely can't argue with the advantage of the long tube headers however you will not get the weight decrease or the sound that Akrapovic offers.
The only exhaust that was in stock got sold. The projected delivery of several more Evolution systems is 2-3 weeks. Only the full Evolution systems are coming. If somebody is looking for the slip-on (mufflers only) only 1 will be available since there is no point breaking up a number of full Evo sets to get stuck with the mid pipes.

this thread is useless without a sound clip
all joking aside, this is a thing of beauty--I'd have to buy a lift so I could clean this and admire it daily
Great workmanship, but I feel like our cars can't justify such a system (price wise), but maybe I'm just being cheap!
I love our cars to death, but someone who buys the "best" exhaust should be starting with a priceyer car--no?
My car is loaded with everything and was in the $80's and I just don' think our cars are worthy--I guess it's for ROTW peeps who pay like $150K for our cars
amazing workmanship--can't wait for that vid

More questions
More questions,
1. From the pictures, what does the "two-cylinder-part"( Ti link pipes with resonator) exactly do? Since it had replaced both stock resonator and 2nd cat., does it have some racing cat inside? Or just with resonator function only? Is there special reason to design as two independant cylinder type rather than one piece resonator like stock one?
2. It's not a bolt-on system, right? The stock resonator section on the driver side also includes the 2nd cat. How does the "Ti link pipes with resonator" link with original pipe in C63?
3. Since the stock resonator has both connecting ends just in the front end of resonator, does Akrapovic also provide the same type of resonator section? I mean no futuer extended pipe to replce 2nd cat.
Had attached drawing for stock exhaust system for easy inderstanding what I'm asking.

I don't have the full diagram yet but what you see on the picture is what you get with the system.

I think this exhaust is a work or art but I can't get past:
Evolution
+12 horsepower
+16 ft. lbs. torque
42.5 pounds lighter than stock
for $5895!!!
At that rate a good tune that created 48rwhp could cost $23,580.
You could do a true carbon fiber roof for less money and lose more than 42.5#?

Agreed that it is a work of art, but for the dollar/reward ratio, it is no more effective an exhaust than a Breitling is a better watch than a Timex. Prettier? Sure. But better? Not for the $$$.
Then again, I'm a poor kid.

I'm with you 100%. You can go to a Shuriken (sp?) battery and drop 35 pounds of weight from the nose of the car for $100.
