2009 C63, 2007 GL 450
Just to give you a quick update. It can be frustrating when you order something and then never hear about it for weeks and you begin to wonder if you should have bought it in the first place and will you ever get it. I want to keep you in the loop so you stay positive and know that its in process.
I spoke with Carl last night and they have the top portion of the mold completed. We worked on the underneath side and they came up with a good solution. They are making progress and I wanted to let you all know how its going. Thanks again to everyone that purchased this hood. Its gonna be awesome!! Can't wait!!

No rush at all from me. All good things take time. Besides with 2.5ft of snow on the ground, little I can do with yet another CF hood. I was thinking as the pile of OEM parts grows larger in the garage of using my OEM hood as a sled for my kids and pull them around the neighbourhood behind the GL 450. By far the most expensive and exclusive kids sled around.

I was thinking as the pile of OEM parts grows larger in the garage of using my OEM hood as a sled for my kids and pull them around the neighbourhood behind the GL 450. By far the most expensive and exclusive kids sled around.

Update, Carl from Stone Carbon e-mailed me and said that the mold is complete and that if all goes well they will have a complete hood within 7-10 days!! He will e-mail pics and I'll will ship it air freight home to inspect and then release them for production. Its moving along!!
If you have not ordered one and want one then please let me know this week and make the deposit asap. I will need to confirm the order when he is released for production which looks like it could be next week.

Petro, you should switch your hood to full carbon fiber and go all out

It's not only the weight but the looks and long-term durability of carbon fiber will probably out last plastic. There just something about having a plastic hood on these cars that sounds funny
Either way, both hoods will come out okay. I just think that carbon fiber will live longer and since this is a one time deal, you might as well do it right from the beginning and not worry about it again

I believe they told me the FRP weighs approximately twice what the C/F hood weighs but its still a significant savings over the stock heavy steel hood. If my memory serves me right there was right at 40# savings stock to the C/F hood. I will have a new one to weigh in a week or so. If someone can remove their stock hood and weigh it I'll be able to give you a comparison.
