3M Film Install - BIG MISTAKE
So I took my new black C63 to get pre-cut 3M installed on my vehicle.
I paid to get my hood, bumper and mirrors wrapped including an extra fee to wrap my edges.
So I got it back and saw that they ordered the wrong size and trimmed it to stretch and fit my vehicle. THEY CUT MY PAINT WITH RAZOR BLADES ALL AROUND THE HOOD, BUMPER AND FENDERS!
They agreed to pay me back. Getting my money back is the least of my concern ... I'm not trying to ruin the person's business - I can sue for damages but I dont' see why I should be getting a repainted parts on my new 80k vehicle.
What can I do?

Wow man sorry to hear about that....
I would take it to a place where they actually do professional work. Research for a good clear bra spot and give them a call. I did extensive research about the company that did my clear bra, so i was pretty comfortable taking it there.
Do you have pictures of the scratches?

You're just about screwed..sorry to say it, but I had a rear end accident and they had to blend the paint, black 040, up to the roof and to the front doors, and you can still tell, albeit you have to know how to look.
Appears you're gonna have to have the entire front end repainted, find the best shop you can, get an estimate, then have them pay for it. Then you have the carfax issue, but not sure how that will work with your situation.

Ouch!! Sorry to hear that!! If it makes you feel any better they cut into the paint on my Lamborghini's when installing clear bra's. Now I feel it's best to just repaint the hood after many chips, I don't think I'll be getting another clear bra again.

Dang, sorry to hear about your misfortune hingkit. As long as they are willing to paint for your front end repaint, it should be fine. Obsidian Black should not be too hard to match if done properly. Good luck!!

F*&K that blows big time--that's like my worst fear--part of the reason I steer clear of the the clear bra--I've read others having the same problem.
Totally sucks--get it fixed make them pay and try to live with it--I hate having stuff repainted, especially a brand new car!
Just make sure you research the BEST place to repaint the car because you don't want to make the same mistake twice.
Good luck--see if it can be wet sanded and buffed first before going the repaint route--no car fax issuses and I always feel like stock paint is best
Research detailers and correction specialists in your area--don't assume the body shop knows best, they want to repaint your car, that's their business.
Get some opinions and do you research--but try the wet sand and buff route first, if it doesn't work, no big deal you're out a few hundred and get it repainted.
Sorry man--GL

Sorry to hear that. That sucks big time. What kind of morons work at these shops? They wrap a $70,000 MB and can't even avoid scratching the paint?!
Good luck man.

Who were they referred by? I got Protec done on my car and they came to the dealer, extremely professional job.
I guess the moral of the story is to find a place that does a lot of expensive cars!

It can be done correctly by a professional using the right blades and the right technique/pressure when cutting. This person had no idea what they were doing. They did you a MAJOR disservice.
I would sue them, but the bad thing is that most of them are not insured. There is no insurance category for thier work or liability, so they can't get insurance. You are gonna have to fight this one in over time.
I am good friends with my 3M clear bra guy and he is one of the finest in the nation. He tells me all the details and whats involved.
I am so sorry. I hope it gets back to normal.

I would not worry too much about the car fax issue, many people get theirs cars painted because of chips in the pain from daily wear and tear. If its an accident, that's another story, but just getting a paint job should not be too much of an issue.
One thing to note, while the blade may have left marks during cutting, if its only minimal marring in the clear coat, a good detailer should be able to correct that without any issues.

At the end of the day .. clear coat -> buff out -> redo 3M .. my biggest issue is its such a waste of time.
But lesson learned - even though a company may be reputable, its the staff they hire that touches your car. Double / Tripple check everything to avoid my situation.

The shop that messed up your car is responsible to make sure the damage is repair, but wherever you go to get it painted is responsible for making sure the paint job is done correctly. Make sure you go to the place that YOU want it painted at and not the person who messed up your car wants to go.

That really sucks and I would be very pissed. I did a lot of research on this topic and only a very few people came up repeatedly. You will get it taken care of........

That is brutal, but could have been worse.
I did some serious research, and found a great company in the montreal area that does clear bras. Actually, the guy just did mine this morning, it's immaculate, and he lent me his car as he fixed up mine at my condo. Anyone in this area, go to Jolifilm, you won't regret it.

WOW!! that sucks big time. I would have the installer or even 3M paying for the bills for screwing up. From the information that I personaly got the 3M company has a specific trim already made for each car, all the installer has to do is to aligng the film.
Best of luck man!

I'd get them to reimburse loss value in a brand new car from resale issues and don't forget your time!!! There aren't many companies that can do it right and Premier is one of the few. You may want to contact them to see if they have a shop or affiliate near you. www.premiermobilegroup.com

Hey hingkit. Which shop did the work? Since I'm local to you, I'm curious.
I've used 2 or 3 different shops over the years to do full wraps, and never had a problem. One local shop just did a full wrap past all edges on my black, and it was perfect. Complete custom job too that required tons of cutting.
