Fluid MotorUnion C63 AMG Midsections, Now For Sale!
Fluid MotorUnion is proud to announce that we're offering up Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG midsections for sale!
Our custom-fabricated midsections utilize a 3" diameter stainless steel design, 1/2" larger than stock. Each midsection is welded (we don't use a bender) by Craig and Tom, whose welds you've seen all over our website, and whose welds also bring about a great deal of compliments on their uniformity and overall high level of craftsmanship.
This midsection connects right before the OEM resonator and muffler, allowing for a stock appearance on the ground, providing for a little bit of stealthiness. It also features a custom-engineered X-pipe as close to the front of the midsection as possible, which is where it functions best.
The midsection is a straight bolt-on setup, connecting to the OEM flanges at both the headers and the rear section. It also includes bungs for the oxygen sensor installation.
Using our Dyno Dynamics dyno, we did runs with both OEM and FMU midsections, and without any sort of tune on the ECU whatsoever, we managed to gain 28.2 horsepower and approximately 25 foot-pounds of torque to the wheels.
The sound change, while adding a definite throatiness and aggressiveness, raises the volume and minimizes drone under load. We've included the video in this post that we filmed this week, an indoor sound test featuring both OEM and FMU midsections. More videos will come as we'll be doing some additional testing on the C63, so stay tuned for that, but we've also included some pictures.
In regards to pricing, we have two prices set up -- a group buy price and a solo price.
The price for a single Fluid MotorUnion C63 AMG Midsection is $1,890.
The price for a group buy FMU C63 Midsection is $1,390. 10 sets, deposits down.
Our price for a solo midsection is comparable to a BMW E9x M3 midsection with X-pipe, even a little bit less. And ours are made by hand individually, ensuring quality and making each one technically unique, much like a bespoke suit for your 4-door German powerhouse.
All inquiries about this midsection should be directed to Mike Marzano. He can be reached by e-mail at mmarzano@fluidmotorunion.com
Here's the youtube video for you, as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G47RGCBNk7o

^ Then get in on the GB.
What are the AFRs without a tune? Too bad Super has LTs now, otherwise he would have been the ideal test candidate with the PLM exhaust manifolds. You guys really need a DJ dyno run done by an independent member since Super showed there are no gains to be had with DPs.

Fully agree, nice but overpriced.
Ashame, I've been waiting for someone to make this solution. I even have a "no cat" kleeman tune all set, but not at this price point.

Hmm I would also have to agree unfortunately. I was really looking forward to this piece and I can certainly appreciate all the work put into it and trying to pick up your R&D cost but I can have one fabbed up for far less. Maybe at 1K I would have jumped. I apologize as I am not trying to badmouth your product by any means and I am sure some will still buy at this price-point but if some have the means to have one made up for less you will just have to understand.
Best of luck and glad there is great product for the C63s anyways. You guys do great work. I will keep my eye out for your other products.
Thanks,
Anthony

Ridiculous pricing. I don't see what justifies this costing more than $500.
Coming from an SRT4 and STI, it seems like everyone thinks "MB owner, they can pay a 200% markup". (or in this case 500%)
I was excited about this modification too...

This product is worth no more than $600. Retail without cats and $800. With cats....
The 2011 Mustang GT 3" stainless off road X-pipe sells for less than $600. and looks nearly identical in the amount of material used.
Gotta love the MB "rip off" factor...

I have spoken to many fabricators regarding making something similar... They have quoted me close to $2200. Since this is completley bolt on it is a great option and price...
I am also getting one and I will let you guys know....I will give you a full write up including Dyno and Track times

I agree that this is overpriced. I have offered them to be the guinea pig and offer same day dyno before and after and looks like they are not jumping on the offer. Maybe it is because axnkuja has beaten me to it.
You can get the GTpro set up for less money without the GP group buy.
I agree that if Fluid can lower his price in the GP to $1,000 shipped, he can count me as a buyer and it appears he can have a few more as well.

This ties into my "fishy" comment earlier. Overwhelming consensus is that this is way overpriced and should be around $500, $600 or even as high as $1,000. Meanwhile, aznkuja comes on the scene with a suspiciously dissenting view and implies that he is moving forward anyway.
That means aznkuja is moving forging ahead with the downpipes for $1,890 no shipping, no tax, no installation. aznkuja328, do I have that right?
As I'd love this piece (at the right price), I look forward to the results!

hes probably getting a deal for the 1st one....who knows. It's still price gouging and I myself will not pay more than 1k for a piece like that. Yea it's worth ~25hp and about 1-2mph....but cmon. It is what it is, some nice welded stainless steel - not very intricate design like longtubes.

i am going to visit their place soon. you are right about the price.
if the midsection turns out to be no good (overprice, useless...), i would revert back to stock, right away. i usually see and try real things before writing out any check, so i will withness whether it is a true work of art.
there won't be any shipping because i am directly visiting them. mike from fluid seemed like a great person, and through our conversations he could even guarantee the outcome or offer a full refund. maybe because i am gonna be the first person who is installing this midsection?
i know this is what i want (not to weld a 2.5" x-pipe to replace 2nd cats for $800 + replace primary cats with 2.5" straight pipes for $400) as i don't want to cut my stock pipe at all.
i have found no reason for not to try this out.
i am willing to pay the group buy price, but i don't see any opt-in at all?
as long as it meets my expectations, in my opinion, under $2000 is acceptable to pay for a super high quality midsection (as i am expecting this).

^ lol I'm sorry but do both you guys actually think welding flanges on to a 3in pipe would warrant an extra 800-1K price increase? lol Again, I love this piece but being raped in the tushy on markup just because we own an expensive platform for something you can have made for far less just doesn't sit too well with me. At 1K it would seem more attractive since I wouldn't mind saving time to have one made/mocked up, but at $1900? umm, thats a bit excessive. Anyhow good luck and keep us posted.
Edit: Another thing to consider...For a little bit more, you may aswell go with the LT MBH setup which includes a full midsection to your liking. Not a tough decision given the price difference to gain in my opinion.
