Glad you're okay. There's more than enough advice already floating around...and I'm sure you'll take something away from this, even if it's not "your baby."

If I can offer this, just think about what happened and consider if there's "anything" you could have done to minimize or avoid the event. The answer may be nothing; but still there will be a positive take-away.

Good luck on getting a satisfactory resolution.

Why do I get the impression that a solid 20% of the C63 owners on this forum are under 20 years of age? No offense to the OP and I am certainly glad you are safe, and I am certainly not disrespecting any forum members on here who have worked to be able to afford their car, but I can't believe some parents would buy their kids a C63 for a beginner car. Its all relative of course, the cost of a C63 to a wealthy individual is most likely chump change. I am not trying to toot my own horn here, but I drove a minivan through highschool, stepped up to a 97 Volvo 960 (loved that car by the way) my senior year of highschool (both the van and Volvo were hand-me-downs), worked through college and bought a Chrysler Crossfire used with 50,000 miles on it, and finally now graduated a semester early from school, was offered a full-time job upon graduation and now at 23 rewarded myself with the closest thing I could afford to a C63, a used C55. And I consider myself lucky and pretty young to be driving the C55 AMG. I know its not about age at all but I guess I just resent the fact that some kids are given these amazing supercars without having to do any work. I hope I don't sound like I am whining because I do not feel bad for myself in the least, in fact, I am happy my parents made me work to get whatever I wanted. I also understand that some people have money, and others don't, and that is life. So again, no offense intended to the OP, and again, I am glad you are safe. Just venting.

Okay, glad the dude is safe. I'm not going to preach teh safety aspects of wearing a seatbelt, the others have already done that for me.

One aspect that has not been brought up, is that insurance companies love to use statistics like people of $x age group not wearing seat belts to jack up the rates for the group.

It's the same reason why motorcycle insurance for sport bikes is so damn expensive sometimes, individually, many are responsible, but the group as a whole, is seen as a bunch of showboating morons who cause accidents.

Also, its illegal in the US not to wear a seat belt. In some states, even the passengers in the rear have to wear one, the driver would eat the cost of the tickets for any non belted passengers.

Let me make one point - it is NOT just the driver who will get screwed by not wearing his seatbelt:

1. How is an unbelted driver going to apply the brakes to stop his car from hitting someone else when he is in the back seat? You cannot control your vehicle if you are unbelted. Period.

2. The accident is going to be much more traumatic for everyone involved if you are killed or thrown from your vehicle. That includes others involved in the accident, but also passersby that try to help and rescue crews. Last night on TV some idiot was thrown from a motorcycle and run over by a truck. The truck driver was understandably upset, even though there was nothing he could do.

3. In most places, if you end up with long-term complications or in a vegetative state, it is the tax payers that are paying for your care (i.e., Social Security in the US, state financed health care elsewhere).

So if you choose not to buckle up, it is NOT just you that is impacted by that decision.

Did the airbag deploy? I would think the airbag would avoid you hitting the windshield? What am I missing?
PS: Glad you are OK. I hope it gets totalled so you can get a new car. Not a good feeling to be driving a car that you have been in a serious accident.

+1 on wearing your seatbelts! Why didn't your bags deploy if your whole front end is pushed in?

Well put about your work. I am 25, married for almost 7 years, own a bakery(wife owns one also), and I run my parents' liquor store, but have been working since I was 12, lol. My school holidays and weekends were at work. I've been doing 14 hour days for over 6 years now, not 1 day of vacation. And you know what? I'm loving it. Money to spend and a family to love and be loved. I hope you fare better in the future. Btw, all occupants of a vehicle should wear their seatbelts.

Sometimes it doesn't crush the sweet spot. Airbags are hit or miss. A friend of mine got her arm broken in 3 places from an airbag because it deployed as she turned her wheel to avoid an accident(still happened), and she's going to pay the price for it for the rest of her life(broke her elbow also).

airbags use deceleration as means of deployment, there is no sweet spot to crush. you hit something at an odd angle at greater speed than a head on collision and not get the airbags to deploy. you hit a brick wall going 15 mph and they may deploy. you hit something at 55 and spin out and they may not.

If he crushed the whole front end of his car, I would think that is more then enough "sweet spot".

when my car chimes alerts it turns down the music. I guess it doesn't do that with the seatbelt alert ? Lol going out of the way to ignore it is excessive.

Holy cow as if i dont know I can fly through windshield if i dnt put my seatbelt on. Ye thats some science in there...my 5 year old sister knws its dangerous.

It was his head that got smacked and if he doesnt realize it now then i really doubt that some comment like " u knw that you can have permanent brain damage" is gonna help. Obivously we DO KNOW that u can hit ur head if u dont wear seatbelt..

I mean i dnt knw maybe some people hang out with really stupid people that have IQ lower then my pug nd they dont knw that bad things can happen when you r taking more risk so they have to keep informing them of things like this.

Its not that we dont know the consequences most of us know them, but some of us are just ignorant nd dont care beacuse we think its not gonna happen to us. Some us do it more often then other but WE ALL DO IT.
Just like Will Rogers said we are all ignorant just on different subjects.

Okay I think I have written an essay hahahhahah
For your sake I hope that you typed this post on a cell phone with several buttons missing while being chased by rabid animals. Otherwise that's some sh*t right there
