C63 vs mod. E55
I have silver E55 and I modded it and I have the car for almost 2years, and my e55 is really fast after Bolt-on mod.
Now I am thinking to change and sell it and buy new C63. The MB dealer let me test drive the C63 for one day, and I like it more after this test drive , this car is grear in every thing , sound is amazing, handling and steering are perfect, the brake system is better comparing to e55, this car is one great piece of art.
With this 2010 stock C63, I raced my friend in his black e55 , his car is tuned with pulley only .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RznSPSu_QWo
My question is what about if the C63 is modified what will be the result with mod. E55.
What is maximum gain can the C63 get after after full jop mod.
I did search for but I couldn't get an answer.
THANKS,

I'm sure you're aware that the C63 engine is limited on what types of power gains can be made vs the supercharged 5.5 engine, which is 100x easier to mod. Dollar for dollar the 55 eats the 63. The 55 is a faster car no questions asked and the ceiling w/the 63 is considerably lower. Depends upon what you want.

You are right, the SUPERCHARGED 5.5 engine is easier to get more gain but after I drove the C63, I found it more enjoyable and sporty in driving than my e55, I am thinking now to buy one but if I wanna get more power in the future , what will be maximum gain of HP without using nos ?

2 years or 5, without a power adder the 63 engine has a low ceiling for total gains. It's a fast powerful engine (one that I prefer over the 55 anyway!) but for modding it's apples & oranges.
The new TT 5.5 engine next year is going to be the mod monster that makes everyone forget the 63 engine ever existed.

The information regarding the weight is vastly inaccurate. The C63AMG weights close to 4000lbs as well. I weighted my car already several times at the local NHRA South West International raceway and my car weighted 3940lbs with low gas.
Apples with apples. stock out of the box the C63 AMG got the best acceleration on any car magazine when compared to a E55.

How do you figure? Have you seen ANY of the mildly to heavily modified E55 dyno graphs, 1/4 mile figures and standing mile figures? The C63 doesn't stand a chance mod for mod. A heavily modded C63 will still lose to a similarly modded or more heavily modded 55, this is proven.
There is a higher ceiling for 55s than 63s, DadsC63 is one example. He's doing amazing things w/the 63 engine and it's still not close to a heavily modded 55 w/out adding a 200 shot of NOS.
And again, I prefer the 63 engine overall, don't get me wrong.

Great motor for sure, but will not be mod friendly based on ECU lock-out

Guys, hate to break it to you all but by the time the TT gets to the C-class (if it does at all) the ECUs will be full crypto and hence no ECU tuning. AMG/MB are starting with the new ECUs from Siemens I believe in 2012 and these ECUs are 100% locked out...no way to break them and do ECU map revisions. This has been confirmed by AMG as well as some known after-market tuners. The ECU game is up on the new breed of motors.
The same will happen with the ECU. I don't care how unbeatable the ECU is designed to be, with hundreds upon hundreds of customers beating down doors ready to throw down thousands on tunes, SOMEONE will be wise enough to work out a way.
And if not.... stand alone engine management I guess.

What does a heavily modded E55 run in the standing mile?
What does a heavily modded E55 run 60-130?
We all have to consider the E55 has cams, heads, pulleys, bigger intercoolers, fuel coolers, etc.. all available that are not out for the C63.
Of course we can't put a larger pulley, larger intercooler, etc... on a S/C that we don't have because we are missing a power adder from the factory.
However, with a 125 shot of nitrous the C63 becomes a winner!!![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
And we still have cams on the way.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The only weak point on the C63 right now is the tranny.
