I am presently experiencing intermittent problems with engine start up. It does not appear to be the battery (?) as this will happened even after the vehicle has been run / driven for a period of time.
At times, with the 'smart key' turned to the full right / start position their will be no indication of the engine even attempting to turn over. Yet I will have the customary advisory lights lit across the dash.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

try your spare key see if you have the same problem ,had a similar problem on my 2010 c63 ended up being the key not responding to the keyless go or something like that ,they replaced key and have had no problem.hope this helps
i had this problem in my '09... no keyless go...
i'm assuming you don't have keyless go since you're saying that you're turning the key...
unfortunately, when i took it to the dealer, they couldn't repeat the process... so then i tried to catch it doing it by recording a video with my phone... i had all the proof... and then i ended up fixing it myself by trading in the '09 for a '10 with keyless go... hope this helps
but seriously... this is exactly what happened... so i was never able to get it fixed... but i did read on the forum that it has something to do with either the keys itself or the assembly that the key goes into...
mine had the problem no matter which key i used.

My c63 had this problem on occasion and I've experienced it a couple of times with my GLK too. I just pull the key out and put it back it and it starts.

I had this problem and it was fixed. If the problem exists with both keys then the cause is a faulty EIS (electronic ignition switch a.k.a. The black socket you insert your key into). Once I had mine (EIS) replaced (under warranty) I Never had the same problem again. Hope this helps. I also don't have Keyless Go on my car.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had any similar ignition problems with their 2010 C63 AMG?
I hope to take it in to dealer this March, been out to sea, and get problem fixed.
I'm inclined to to believe that it might be the EIS and described in a previous reply.
Otherwise, I'm extremely happy with my 2010 C63 AMG; looking forward to the next few years to see how this beauty evolves.

I just had the same exact issue. Luckily my 2010 C63 is still under warranty. I just had it towed to the dealership and will find out tomorrow what the deal is.

Explorefraktv & charles emory,
After two visits to the dealer, the problem remained undetected.
After the last time I was not able to start the car I decided to check the battery once more. I had checked this before and assumed the dealer had as well.
I found that the negative terminal was making bad contact with the battery; though it appeared to be tight, it was not.
After tightening the terminal I never again experienced this problm.
Purchased in Aug. 2010 and now just over 8,000 miles.
I hope that this is your fix to your problem...odds

Just heard back from the dealer. I had a loose connection (I think he mentioned ground) to my starter.
When I initially called the tow service, the on-call Mercedes tech that came to the car disconnected the battery (hard reset), and re-tightened both the terminals on the battery, but that didn't fix it.
So it looks like the starter connector was the culprit.
