New advice on how to paint a Cf trunk spoiler?

Hi fellows,

I'm about to order the last pc of CF to complete my car... a trunk spoiler.

I definitely don't want to keep it all CF, I want to "half" paint it like Dads car. This morning I decided to use some 3M CFdinoc vinyl to see how it would look.

Please, don't flame on the vinyl job, it was only to visualize the look I'm looking for. It was removed short after the pics... and I tried not to waste as much material as possible by cutting them in pcs rather than cutting a whole pc.

Maybe someone is good at photoshop & can help me picture all my options.

My options are:
1. Paint it the way shown in the pics (below),
2. Leave the whole top CF & paint the bottom white,
3. Paint the whole top white, and leave the bottom CF,
4. No paint at all... keep the OEM... ditch the idea... hahaha!

On a white car I would just leave it.

Do you mean leave it OEM or all CF?

I like what your doing, I think that it would look nice. Hint...... let a professional wrap it for you.....LOL I think that a front splitter would look nice done the same way.

I say # 1 or 3 will look awesome. If you do 1 get a good fade maybe.

4. It will match your roof spoiler.

Thank you everyone for the advice... it's a really though decision. I think the fading paint would look awesome, but I don't think my painter can do it... it seems more like an air brushing job.

I just got my BOCA big spoiler today... the spoiler is not as big as I thought, it should look good once installed. The quality & finish are flawless. The CF goes all the way down to the bottom of the spoiler too.

Here are few pics... before sending it to my bodyshop for a custom paint. I will update this thread after paint... and in the Spring once installed.

Thanks Ghazan... you're exact, I wanted something a little more aggressive than OEM... but a little smaller than Vorsteiner. I kind of feel sad to paint over the nice CF.

Maybe put it on CF first, as it is, see how you like it. If you want to paint it or blend it into the white you can always do it later.

Looks very nice.

I finally decided to test fit the spoiler on a friend's C300... too bad his car is black... I wanted to see how it would look on a white car. At least, I can say the fitment & finish of the spoiler is amazingly good.

Here are few pics before I send it to my bodyshop:

Looks really good as it is. However the idea with leaving just the back edges in CF seems better on a white car. Good job

The Boca Rear spoiler is gonna look insane on your C63. I would leave it bare carbon fiber.

Thanks guys for the feedbacks... I think the CF looks great on my friend's black C, but I'm still not sure about the white trunk. I might follow Mort advice on trying it CF first then paint it if I dont like it.

Ok, here are the updated pics of the spoiler painted... my bodyshop used a water based paint as the base color, so he can always sand it down & repaint the spoiler if I want a different look in the future. But for now, I think the fading paint came out pretty nice... so I will install it the way it is for now.

I will try to take pics of the spoiler over the OEM tomorrow in the daylight... to have an idea of how it would look installed. But the real installation will have to wait this spring as it is way too cold to do it in the winter.

@ Sincity... Harrower is my canuck friend on fb... hahaha!! I dont know if Boca & MCD are the same.

@ super... I'm trying to get to your level with all the CF madness... hehehe! your Palladium silver flows so much better with Cf than my Calcite white though.

Roswell, I really like your artistic outlook, however I think your car would look absolutely amazing and refined if you had left it bare CF like the guys mentioned above. It's somewhat of a statement to be made when it plays off the white body and it flows with your black roof. With the fade, strictly IMO, I think it starts to look way too flea market after market. Just giving you my opinion because your car always looks great and youve done some nice work...

Zephyr, thanks for the constructive opinion... I always appreciate your feedbacks. It was a very difficult decision on how to paint it or even not to paint it, I was afraid to "rice" my car... but when I was told by my bodyshop that he will use water-based paint over oil-based paint for this job, I was itching to see how it would look the way Dad's painted his spoiler on a white car.

I'm already starting to plan my next option for next year (maybe). I would love to try painting the top & leave the back portion CF. :P

Can you provide a source for the spoiler?

Ok, I went out to see how it would look on the car under the daylight & to ensure the color match... all seems to be good. Sorry for the blurry pics, it's snowing right now.

P.S It's only a test-fit, I will not have a double decker spoiler... hahaha!
