How many owners have slight imperfections in their C63s?

When I spend time washing my car, I see tons of little imperfections that I wouldn't expect from a Merc. Sorta drives me nuts but I don't know if its worth even doing anything about it. But I am OCD...

1. Ball of clear coat under front fender that didn't drip off
2. Rear bumber not exactly flush with rear tail light
3. Imperfection in body paint in small locations

Just to name a few...

Anyone else also experience any slight imperfections? Did you guys do anything about it? Also, my car was showroom new with 11 miles on it...

Lets vent and discuss.

i tend to notice those things too... on any car i would expect it to be taken care of ... but after owning a lotus for a while, you learn to live with some... when i first started to see imperfections in my lotus, it was always a response like they're all like that...

if you go onto the lotus forums, they even have a smiley with a sign saying TADTS which stands for "They All Do That Sir"

and another thing... if you find drip marks, do you actually want that whole body part or panel painted? and i find it doubtful that mercedes would even do that... and there's a possibility it'll come out worse than before

i know exactly what you are talking about.i think most people on this forum as like millions of other car enthusiasts out there, are OCD about there toys.i don't own a c63,but I'm on the fence about buying own.thats why i try to read as much as i can on this forum about the car so i can have better knowledge of what I'm getting into.i have noticed on many c63 that came my way that the paint is definitely not the same quality as the higher end MB.my '03 clk has a much deeper paint and nicer interior than the c63.IMO i can accept that, because they have to cut corners somewhere so they could give you that great power plant and keep it in that price range.enjoy your car my friend.

I have a C300 built in South Africa that has about 5 tiny "trash imperfections in the clear coat. I have a c63 that was built in Germany and it has nearly flawless paint. To be fair the c300 is capri blue met. and the c63 is non-metalic white but the fit and finish is much better on the German car Also the window glass on the c300 is made by Armourplate and it
has tiny imperfections that appear as small dots in the right light. The c63 has pilkington glass and it is flawless. Every car MB makes is different If you want the best example I suggest you inspect every inch of the paint and glass before you buy the car and try to place the car in bright shop lights during your inspection.

I just picked up a brand new Obsidian Black C63 and am very happy with fit and finish. My main issue is with the amount of orange peel in the paint which is obviously more noticeable being a black car.

Sounds like you should have gone over the car a bit closer before taking delivery ? Or, perhaps brought up the imperfections in your negotiations and asked for a price reduction...

I also bought a a 2010 C63 in Obsidian Black, and my plant is flawless. The thing about black it shows every little imperfection. My car must have been built on Monday, when the workers are happiest coming off a weekend, and not on a friday.

the bottom half of my gas lid was not painted correctly. Looks like the painting machine put about half the paint on it that should be there.

2. Rear bumber not exactly flush with rear tail light

Same issue here, but not so noticeable. Overall paint is flawless!

You are right in what you say LZH, but it's kind of a tricky thing. The car was show room new, sitting inside. Initial overall inspection shows the car to be perfect. Then I had already negotiated the difference to some crazy low number from an '09 to an '10. Not to mention it's fully loaded minus p31 and the last one of it's kind in the state. So then you take delivery and only notice with a detailed eye when washing at home. But in essence you are right. But I think that overall QC is not the greatest because even the C63 at the LA car show had non flush panels and flaws all around in the seams and paint...

just live with it guys, after you drive it for sometine, flawless paint will not be flawless anymore, stonechips, deadbugs, micro paint scratches... the best you can do is keep it clean, wax it every 3-4 months

+1 This is my first blk car and last. Right now I have 19k miles on the C63. I see sandblasting on the lower part of front doors-have to get real close. Bumper has them too. Hood is fine. This car is not even my daily driver. But over all paint quality is good doesnt chip easy.

Haha, my previous car was black, that's why I got the C63 in White.

I HATE black for maintenance.

I've learned to stop caring about minor imperfections in my car. Daily drive it 50 miles a day and street park it, it's not looking perfect for long

And yes my last two cars were both black!

I think any factory car will have minor imperfections in the paint...it's not a custom job. Of course there is a limit to how many and how bad...

I just applied 2 coats of Zaino Z5 and 3 more coats of Zaino Z2. Also sprayed Z8 spray seal between each coat of polish. The paint is now flawless.

I have noticed my left hand side exhaust tips sit slightly lower than the right side.
Anyone else have this?

I have this, don't remember which side, but one of them is slightly lower.

Also, I think my driver side rear suspension is messed up, it looks like it's dropped an inch or so on one side. Damn potholes but I kinda like it though LOL. need to figure out how to "drop" the other side.

You could get some coilovers and set the suspension to whatever height you like. I just ordered some H&R. Think they were only $1,150 US plus shipping to Australia

Yes I have that. It also sticks out a little more when engine is fully warmed up.

Yeah my car is kind of INSANE. I remember a thread about this before. After driving, my exhaust grows longer and elongates outward like some errection from behind. IT GROWS. I want to measure the difference of extension from cold to hot. And true, on my '09 I was not able to slide my fingers across the top between the diffuser, on my '10, the exhaust sits a tad lower and my left exhaust sticks out more than the right when cold. Is it worth adjusting them?

I do have to mention the exhaust does look awesome though...

Very noticeable on Steel Grey and still apparent in other colors:

The paint color on the front bumper isn't a good match with the paint color on the front quarter panels. You can see it in just about every side profile pic online and it's very obvious in person.

This is actually common on a lot of cars (but usually less obvious) when the painted body panels are composed of different materials (plastic vs. metal).
