When should your first oil change be?

Some people tell me within the first 100 miles to clean out the whole system of shavings and metallic bits and pieces, and some say first 500-600 miles like the manual. Then other say like a regular oil change. MB told me to change my previous vehicle's oil every 12k miles...

Whenever you like. I changed mine at 1k miles and 4k miles. I currently have 5,100 miles on the car.

Do the oil change then ask for that used oil and bathe in it to become one with your car and engine. Develops a nice bonding moment.

I don't thnik the manual tells you to do an oil change at 500 miles. I brought this topic to my service advisor at the MB dealer and he recommended to do the first oil change at 10000 miles, I did my first oil change in fact at 10200 miles and I never had issues other than having to refill a little bit.

Many people here go overkill with the engine oils changes, you really don't need to change it that often specially if you do normal driving like me in C mode 99.9% of the time at low rpms.

Besides all that, these engines are already put on the bench before they are put on the car or put in the cra then put into the rollers to check normal operation and get final approval.

1 out of every 50 6.3ltr is taken off the assembly line for dyno checking, wear and tear, quality control, etc... that's from the horse's ***. The rest are just tested on the road briefly before going on the train or boat.

Send it to Blackstone Labs whenever you change it, it's a great service.

I didn't know that. By any chance did you actually watch the AMG video that they sent you on the mail? I was under the impression that all the C63 go under the rollers for a while for engine testing but I believe what you are saying.

On that note, why Mercedes wouldn't recommend sooner(more frequent) oil changes then? Mitsubishi (Evo)and VW GLI) recommends 5000 miles.

That may just be for a heat cycle, but the actual tear down, QC, etc was quoted as 1 in 50...

I'm pretty sure that the first oil change is done during service A, and your dash should have alerts reminding you when service A is due as the date comes close.

Mercedes recommends changing your oil at either 10000 miles or one year time, which ever comes first, other than that you can change your oil when ever you want.

Because more frequently doesn't necessarily mean better. Why over service the car? MY mitsubishi eclipse was every 7500 miles. On my Inifniti I changed it every 6,000-8,000. Never had one issue. I'm not sure what the reco was though.
