Best Performance Meter for 0-60, 1/4 mile runs
I am looking for a relatively affordable (<$250) performance meter to measure 0-60mph times as well as 1/4 mile runs. Does anyone have any experience with such devices? The G-Tech SS looks promising. Are there any other products that I should consider?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Compulink at any real NHRA drag racing strip. As far is the one that you plug in to the cigarrete lighter, Vbox, Gtech etc they all all about the same. I have the second version of GTech(Gtech Pro) and is very accurate with my times at the track.

My Gtech Pro was within 0.1 seconds of just about every car I ever dragged.
It was off a little more on my 91 stang, but that was because I had TRUE custom road race springs, aka 800lb linear, and the Gtech did not have enough adjustment range for this application.

I recommend the PerformanceBox/VBox (made by Racelogic). It is very accurate and is satellite based and offers a ton of customizations. I tend to like the satellite-based devices over the accelerometer-based ones because with the accelerometer-based devices, sometimes the road conditions (if not very smooth) and/or how violent you launch the car throws the measurements off as they continually move the sensor. Another annoying feature is calibration: on some vehicles, they require you to calibrate the device to the car, which sometimes requires revving the engine to 4000 rpm in Park or Neutral, which can not always be done. With Satellite-based devices, all of these issues are eliminated.
However, I do have both devices and like them both. I don't use the G-Tech as much anymore but it is a very decent and cheaper alternative

Looks like there is a new "Fanatic Series" GTech Pro SS with a color LCD display and GPS built in for $200. http://www.gtechpro.com/ss_fanatic.html
PerformanceBox/VBox is in the $500+ range, which is a lot more than I want to spend.
Thanks for all the inputs. I sent you a pm AmgJohn.

Just ordered the new GTech Pro SS "Fanatic" series. It should be here tomorrow or day after. The new model looks much more solid than the last one. It also has a 10hz GPS engine.
I'll post a review and performance numbers as soon as I can.
