Photos :: Carbon Fiber Hood and Carbon Fiber Front Splitters :: 2010 C63

The C/F Front Splitters are from Boca Design. The finish is great but the fitment wasn't ideal. The driver's side splitter will need to be re-done. There was some leftover clearcoat "drippings" on the edge that are preventing it from sitting flush. Note: These had to be glued on.

The C/F Hood is from Stone Carbon. Fitment is OK. It is not dead-on like the OEM hood. The finish (just like their trunk lid) is far from perfect. There are many inconsistencies in the carbon fiber weave including a very annoying little dimple under the clear near the front. I haven't decided on exactly how I'm going to have it painted. I'm leaning towards painting the center section Steel Grey leaving the strips above the headlights in C/F. I'm still undecided. I'm using the same AMG emblem that I temporarily have on my C/F Trunk Lid.

I've still got my H&R Sport Springs sitting in a box here. That front end is begging to go lower.

Excellent job on the install super... you're getting into the CF addicts club with Harrower... hehehe! I think you should leave your CF trunk & CF hood unpainted 'cuz you have a dark colour car... it doesn't stand out too much & looks classy.

I just saw the dipple on the hood... I think you should paint the middle portion to cover it or ask for an exchange.

Going to talk to Carl @ Stone Carbon and see what he says. If the weave was perfect I wouldn't even consider painting. It's the flaws that likely have me heading to the spray booth.

Hi Super...great install notes as always. I am sure that once Carl see pics of imperfections in the hood, he will make things right and get you what you paid for. Splitters look good. Car is looking like a CF beast! Congrats.

So much for quality control...why was it even shipped is what I would know after paying good money. I understand some imperfections in the weave, but there has to be a limit of how many and how bad.

before jumping to conclusions here, let's see what Stone Carbon says and is willing to do to address these issues. My hood from them is perfect and others on the boards have had the same experience. My experience with Carl is that he super-customer friendly and that he will do all he can to make sure that Super issues are addressed. This could be a one-off. I am sure that Super will address with Stone Carbon and we should wait and see what resolution Stone Carbon put forth.

The car looks sick
My CF splitters are awaiting install. I'm juts waiting for my car to get repainted under warranty.

Did you use 3M tape? I test-fitted the splitters and the fitment seemed "just ok".

Hi Super,

Just know your issues and see your post.
(And thank you Harrower for telling this to me!)

As for the issues on the hood and trunk ,
Super, can you please take some more pictures by close shoot with more
details? such as the inconsistencies on carbon weave and the dimples.
Then we can well know them.
And then let you know our ideas and solution.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance!
Wait for your reply.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused!

Best regards!

Thanks for the good write up as usual super. I think if I spent that much I would send it back... that dimple is noticable on both pictures. If your spending that much $$ on a product like that I would expect nothing less then perfect. To me, any dimple or flaw like that would be unexcepetable.

Good job super. If u car were to be here in NY it's possible to make a 10'sec pass with the MHP tune and headers and all your other lightweight goodies. You got a beast in your hands, If u can tell me between rims tires rotors and the cf hood and trunk how much weight have u saved over stock parts? TIA

Hi Wayne,

Here we have studied the pictures!
Thank you!

And I have replied you with email.
The dimple on the hood is caused by the too much clear coat in the mold
during the manufacture,
it is our fault without finding this before shipping.
Very sorry for this!
This issue will never happen again , here we will pay more
attention on the inspection process ,especially will do more training on our new inspectors and workers.

We will do the same things on the trunk lid production,
so here as I said in my email,
we would to give you some compensation.
Hope you can well understand our situation!
Here we are manufacturer ,we make many hoods and trunk lids,
and most of the process is handled by hands,
so there may be a little fault happened,
we will be much appreciated for your consideration!

And every one here:
Here we make carbon fiber items for brand,
our quality control and quality consistence is still in nice grade,
quality and price performance is very nice too,
of cause here we also have some points are not perfect,
but we are doing our best to improve them ,
also hope to get your suggestion and ideas to help us!
Thank you !

if any clients of us find there is some issues on our items,
we would do our best to cooperate with you to resolve them.
And also please inspect the items when you open the packing case firstly,
if you find some issues,
please tell us right away,
then we can well know the status.
Thank you very much for your cooperation!

Best regards!

The carbon fiber hood and trunk look great from the pictures! I especially like the rear with the CF trunk. It will be interesting to see how much faster you run with the lightweight mods. Judging from Dodger's times, they do seem to be helping.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm considering buying a hood from Carl. Wanted to see what the resolution was? Please pm me if you'd prefer not to share in public. Thanks so much!
