The C63 is defined by one of many characteristics like the hood buldges/creases. The E63 does not sport these and it would of been more aggresive if it did. Wonder why it didn't...
I don't know if the new C Class will have this style, because thats one thing that sets models apart and adds sporty styling.

it's the same hood design from the old slk roadsters. I sure hope it doesn't define the car.

What I meant was it adds a badd-***-ness to it. You know its mean and its AMG from a mile away...

Define as in it sets it apart and adds an aggressive, beefy appearance...

Mercedes Benz (even before they hyphenated the name) has had that twin bulge in the hood for their performance models for decades.

I like it a lot and wish the new E63 came with one or at least something that would set it apart slightly from other E-Class sport models.

Yeah I really only noticed it a few weeks ago on the E63 and though it was poor/lack of styling on the part of MB because it would look great with them.

Don't have any recent photos, but here's a couple from the summer (sorry, they're pretty random). I'm getting new ADV 07 Track Spec wheels on them in a few weeks. Will be happy to share some new photos once those have arrived.

No problem. Will post new pics when the new wheels have been installed.

Back on-topic, though...I wonder if the twin bulges would actually look good on the new E-class with its somewhat more angular styling.

Benz does a lot of wierd stuff that isn't pattern behavior. I have no idea why they never gave the E63 the hood buldge. Just simply odd to me. Yeah it would look maybe a bit condensed and over contoured but I would really like it if someone had photoshop techniques to give it a try to sample it...

Anyone?

I love our hood. So glad MB went with it. The car just wouldn't look as aggressive without it.

The supercharger conversion is MUCH needed on the 4.2 R8's.

I agree that the C is set off by the hood bumps, but I think the angular styling comment is pretty thoughtful as far as the E63 goes. Lots of straight lines and angles on those. And just as a point for the title of the thread, my GL has the power bumps too.

The New E63 doesnt have power domes because MB like to refresh the car a bit every yr with a larger refresh mid life. My guess is that in a couple of yrs the E will also get the power domes. But who knows, the E is the executive class so it might be too much for it. You dont see domes on the S63. The 2011 ML350 gas and bluetec now get the power domes because they are the final yr of the current ML. I think MB wants a quite understated look for the E63. You know its a fine car, then you see how it moves and leaves you silent.

And whats up David... how many tires have you killed on the new R8? I gota sit shot gun in it next time you go out to Whitsler

It does harken back to the 300SL gullwing, but the reason the gullwing had it was to clear the manifolds, since they canted the engine on its side to make the hood lower. They started to use the twin bulges again with the SLK but I've seen it on the ML AMG too. So its not exclusive to just one model.

I love it and hope that MB will keep it on the C.

Then you will need one custom made to be shorter by three inches for your car.

Creases are badass in my opinion. Whenever I see a C class, the first thing I look for are the creases
