Well maybe i can get my answer here because reading some past post it got me no where or i might have missed it in the cat fight about air to air or air to water cooling and supercharging blah blah.... Anyways I want to do a custom Single rear mount turbo system at the moment and was wondering what is the stock block and internals rated for. The superchargers are only running 7lbs.... Is 7lbs the max on a turbo? As i can speak for everyone else im just trying to make the best power gain for the dollar. Im not one to spend $15k on a supercharger and make only 500 wheel if i can do it with a turbo for maybe $7k

wow, where to start.

first off, a supercharger can make more boost if you put a smaller pulley on it but your engine needs to be stout or your going to blow the heads off the thing lol.

superchargers are more based on volume induction and turbos are generally more based on velocity.

if we are talking about a turbo on a c63....man that would be tough. im not saying it cant be done (brabus could do it, if they havnt already) but finding a place for those turbos is going to be tough. huge modifications will need to be done that will rack up to well more than the superchargers price. the 6.2L engine already makes alot of heat....i can only imagine the underhood temps with a couple of nuclear heat disks in there. you will need to have a custom air to air intercooler as well. god, i could go on and on. good luck.

the engine can handle alot of power. you can probably go to 700hp with out a problem with the engine (especially if you have the p30 or p31 packages forged internals)

the problem will be with the transmission. thats the weak point. good for 550 lbs i think. correct me if im wrong.

Thank you for your quick response. Umm i wanted to do a rear mount turbo setup and intercoolers can be ran in the fender and up front. But i have the regular c63 im pretty sure its not the P30 or P31 track package. But now since you brought up the transmission... Thats a problem. Does anyone know if they can be built, or new clutch packs or upgraded one at least.

Renntech does upgrades to C63 tranny to handle more power. Check out their site.

Thumbs up

The tuner Vath offers a supercharger for the m156 engine & you get 680hp at the end (and 800nM if i remember correctly)

Wow i totally forgot about Renntech. I have to call them and see how much the upgrade is rated for power wise. Im trying to stay away from superchargers and to go with a turbo setup because as of yesterday i dynoed my car and it puts down 405ft/lbs of torque and with ecu and other bolt ons im happy with that number. Im not really looking for torque numbers just top end, it has the gearing for it but its dies off. Superchargers and 255 rear tires arent flying in my book lol

i looked up some rear mount turbos and thats weird. i actually never heard of them. in my experience with turbos....that would produce a **** ton of lag. does anyone have experience with these things?

i would still go with the supercharger unless you are doing something that always has the boost on tap.

You would think so but if you do the plumbing correctly it has the same lag that you would expect from a front mount.

I've been running a rear mount on my 03 Silverado 1500HD 6.0L for 6 years. Running on 6 lbs now but have run it on 12 lbs. Have a MPT76 .91A/R and have seen 450 hp on my Gtech and 12.7 1/4 mile. My truck weighs 6200 Lbs. I am not sure it would be too easy to run the intake piping but the turbo might fit in the exhaust easily. The lag is not bad at all. Tuning and fuel would be major concerns. I think the S/C is the way to go for ease of installation and reliable running.

Lag im completely fine with, If boost comes in at 4-5k its fine but i wouldnt think it would have that much lag with this huge motor to start off with. This is all in theory because i also never heard of anyone turbo-ing a c63

Thats why renntech has the transmission upgrade and they do have widebody kits out there to run 335 rears

And why don't you think it will hand the Power? These trans are working fine with cars with over 200 more bhp.
