I thought i should mention i am currently getting 4-1 LTH made for my car and possible retail. Unfortunately i couldnt buy a set from mhp or mbh as they dont make RHD headers. I will post back to back results and comparrison against the CarGraphic (can i say thay??? With out being sued again) header set up with 1/4 times to come over the next few months

Anyone here have the RENNtech headers installed? Thoughts? Opinions? And would the MHP headers slip on with an akra evo exhaust?

Thanks in advance,
Tyler

Not to bash RENNtech or their headers, but I have heard they lose about 8 to 10 hp. Its not the best design either and the welds don't look that great. For $5,000 I would expect something better.

PERTPLUS has the MBH headers with the Akra slip on exhaust.

I think if the akra slips on to stock it will slip to Mhp as it is complete bolt on

Update:
4-1 headers being installed, should be ready by Friday. How ever, they are not our custom made with 1 7/8in pipe. With the car being rhd it is very difficult (although doable) and my exhaust guy would of needed the car for another good month which I just can not give. So we went for the next best solution. I bought headers made by DiFilipo which are 4-1 true full length 1 3/4 pipe size 3in collector. I believe this is the same engineered by Marranos Performance. If so thanks to them, we can get true 4-1's for our cars.

I'm hoping to go for a retune next week to test against my previous header then when it cools from these 30+ degree days will definately hit the track up.

I should add the new headers are being attached to my current exhaust system, not the factory set up.

Anyone has info on those wheelsandmore shorties, they should be a great alternative for euro stringent emission control with some hjs cats welded on. W&M uses capristo exhaust systems for the catbacks but don't know if capristo produces the headers too.

Does anyone know what kind of exhaust the C63 F1 Medical Car uses? I saw it at the Melbourne GP a couple of weeks ago and it sounds much louder than the stock C63. They had a stock C63 on track as well and the difference was huge, never considered a stock C63 to be quiet until then

I've read officially it has "larger pipe diameters and a revised rear silencer" but that isn't saying much. Would it still use the log stye OEM header or would it use LTHs?

Anyway it sounded fantastic and was noticeably louder (and less refined) than the SLS Safety Car.

Great set of pic. The next question is which performs best. The object is to balance the exhaust flow from each cylinder. As the exhaust charge exits into the manifold it creates a vacumn behind it. By having a common 4 into 1 collector with equal length cylinder exhaust pipes, each exhaust charge creates vacumn at the collector to help pull the next cylinder exhaust charge. Hence long tube headers work best as they have equal length runners allowing the scavenging effect to be optimized as there is almost always negative pressure in the collector. Optimizing the scavaging effect also helps pull the next intake charge into the cylinder due to value overlap. All the extra diameter and length of tubing also does wonders for reducing back pressure. The down side is they are big and require a substantial reworking of your entire system including the cats. They are also a major pia to install as there is not much room to slip them in. Before the invention of ECU's, headers were the cheapest and usually first power upgrade.

The long tube headers are usually tuned for higher RPM. Some of the shorties might be a better choice for low and mid range.

hi Guys

can i ask where the cats are on the stock exhaust ?

Here in the UK we have an annual examination called the MOT which the car will fail if it has its catalytic converters removed, so retaining them is essential to passing the test.

I'm looking at various exhausts trying to work out which of them delete the cats and which keep them ?

If there would be interest, I will call American Racing...I know a few people over there. I know vettes LTs outsell c63 LTs ten fold but headers for $3,500...to me that would be the cost of a custom made set.
