3,500 is some serious cheese. Wouldn't mind a set of reasonably priced headers. lol
Would they be willing to make headers for the C63? if so, that would be awesome!

I'm going to talk to a shop that retro fits LS motors into e36 bmw's and they hand make all the needed parts, including headers. I spoke with a friend that works with stainless, and he said the metal required to make the headers would be way less than a grand.

I tries twice , they had interest. I was prepared to lay my car for development. But they never came through I think there not to interested in the small market I know they'll do one offs but that's pricey

I believe to make this thread more helpfull for beginners like me ... is to evaluate (from experiance or friend recommendation) the headers in terms of type, manufacturer, Sound, Power, and price (out of 5 , 1 poor - 5 amazing).

i.e.
Type: LT - 4/5
M: MHP - 5/5
Sound: 4/5
Power: +70 hp 4/5
Price: +3800 - 3/5

appreciate your patience and help ... ^_^

just want to confirm where 200 cell cats should be placed on headers before i purchase some..

can someone post a picture with headers with cats? to be more specific, where the cats should be placed to i suppose replace the primary cats, since i will not be running catless headers.

Many thanks!

I would say right after the collector.

thanks for the quick reply guys.

Since my car is RHD, I don't have many choices for headers..
I am opting for Innotech equal length 4 in 1 headers but they sell catless to all their customers but they have given me the option to get HJS racing cats installed onto the headers.

So I will be running Equal Length headers w/ 200 cell cats + straight pipe (in place of secondary cats) than a x-pipe (in place of resonater) than the valvetronic mufflers.

This system is LOUD with valves open, so I think having the 200 cell cats will help somewhat.

Finally, I still have to decide on tip option a) matte blk b) titan burnt blue or c) regular chrome

Any suggestions on the tips gentlemen?

I'd go with either black or chrome.
Matte black would look pretty aggressive.
Chrome will give it a more OEM look.

would the titan tips be too JDM?? i was thinking it would match my car's colour quite well.

i am goign back and forth on matte black also, but just worried it will get hidden and look like i don't have an exhaust..haha!

I would go with chrome. The X-pipe should reduce the growl to the point you wouldn't need to activate the valvetronic exhaust.

Hi All,

thanks for the feedback, but after talking to friends that have experienced IPE exhaust system, the system might be simply too loud for my liking.

So I have opted to do IPE's headers only with full akrapovic exhaust, I am about to order but have one last dillema. Due to lack of stock for HJS cats for the headers, I either have to wait 1+ month for the cats to arrive and have them installed into the headers, or i can simply just run catless headers. However doing research, I seem to cant find specific answers..

Should I just run catless headers? I will do MHP tune, what are the pros and cons of running 200 cell cats versus running catless?

Appreciate everyones feedback on this, as it will really help me finalize my decision!

Many thanks

I had those. When I was setting up my 2008, I didn't want a very loud car, but wanted more power and breathability. They were great and I do miss them. I regret not pulling them off my old 63. They created just a little more noise than stock, not very loud except for cold start, and were real smooth. There was definitely a noticeable difference from stock. And it was proven on the Dyno.

Problem, Kleemann doesn't make them anymore. So, they might be hard to find, but if you do I would ****** them up. Good luck!

Whew! Beautiful headers and much earnest and heated discussion.

Anyone ever consider ebay's SpeedDaddy header source? You could pick all the disigns in contention and have them made for $400-$500 each. You would need to put in some time to tweak them so they fit, take out the weld warp, etc, etc. That's a long way from $4K.

Yes, I put a set on a Nissan expecting the worst-surprise after unf***ing them they work great and have not failed $118. Half serious and speaking to the gear heads here. I am aware "cheap stuff" won't really work on MB.
