great thread but for folks arguing "Tri Y" is not modern or works... you must push pens for a living! Nearly everything i build (MC) run this design! IT WORKS! BUT i will say the car **** is SO over priced! I mean for under $3k RETAIL (not my shop cost) we can get full titanium systems so much better made and even smaller quanties sold i am sure.. you cant get welds like this on our car ****.. sad. I want LT headers so bad for my C63 but to be honest most dont look that greatly made (i love the Kleeman logs but disc)

here is latest build we did, yep its Akrapovic.. so much more quality and design in these IMO..but then again we get over 200 hp/liter on pump gas when i build the engines..

i get the main reason for SS over Ti besides cost is longevity (we use our pipes for 2 seasons or 6-8k miles maybe) Ti wears out....just when you work with this all day long its hard forking $$ over for heavy thick, poorly welded tubes..

^ But that means I would have spent $12-15K on headers already! Very pretty though...

I am uncertain of what I can do to my C63 for improved exhaust flow from the setup I have now to what? See sig, Kleemann LT headers, Mike's H pipe stock from that point back. Noise I don't care about, not my daily driver and the louder the growl the better if there are any gains to be realized form it!!

Any advice guys? What is available?

If anyone has questions about the MBH/Dyno Comp headers for a C63 AMG feel free to contact me. I also have a dyno graph of my vehicle.

Cooperlee, was this question directed at me? Headers are not really a bang for the buck option. Now if you have the cash, then they are a worthwhile modification. I have the MBH headers from DynoComp in Scottsdale Arizona. The best bang for the buck is actually the air filters replaced and the ECU/Dyno tuning. Next, would be headers, then the supercharger or cams from MHP. I say the headers second even though they are not the best bang for the buck, because you will need them to do any other mods e.g. cams, supercharger.

Hope this helps,

Kyle

Hey guys. I was wondering what header setup I can buy that will bolt on to the stock catback?

I can get the MBH Long tubes and Mid pipes
http://www.mbhmotorsports.com/#!c63-...-headers/c1k4a

Or the American Racing Headers?
http://eurocharged.ca/products/merce...headers-detail

Or MHP Headers (cost $1000 more than the 2 above)
http://www.modernhorsepower.com/cgi-...3&keywords=all

What do you guys recommend?

I have the MBH headers, catted mids and x-pipe and they bolt up to the stock resonator. They are beautiful pipes. They do not curve above the cross brace and I had to leave it off. I may or may not space it down depending on how I end up feeling about it. I have not driven my car yet with the headers as my registration is seasonal (April 1 - October 31) and with this winter hanging on with a vengeance it may be a while yet.

The MHP pipes are made by American Racing Headers and look like a great set up as well. If you are looking for the last tenth/hundredth in the quarter these seem to have the edge going by MHPs previous times reported with their 4 into 1 collector. They also look to have a curve in the pipe to take it over the cross brace which is a nice feature but it introduces some ugly looking kinks in the pipe.

The American Racing Headers are made for the E63 and CLS63 and not for the C63 so while they are a much nicer price they may not fit the C63 well or at all. MHP sells the ones that fit the C63 and charges a $1205 premium for the privilege. He also sells the E63 and CLS63 pipes for a $1205 Premium over EC.

The Gintani looks like a cheaper version of the Supersprint, without the spring loaded flanges, same geometry, and it's classified as a long tube and Try-Y (it's a 4 into 1, exacty like the Supersprint).

Either move the Gintani in the "medium length" category or the Supersprint in the "long" one.

Good catch. The final bend is clearly past the collector.

outside of MBH, do any others offer a primary high-flow cat option?
what are guys in California doing about this? i have heard the "install headers after smog" but assuming youre going to keep the car long-term, the issue will arise again at a later date

thank you!

.
I heard a forum member's MBH with cats and it was still pretty damn loud. I think if you also use an x-pipe, it will temper the sound a little bit.

If you run catless you will get an emissions based CEL. Most tuners can take care of that for you.

I bought MBH Headers today for my Black Series through Eurocharged!

Do you guys think they will be too loud for daily driving?

Hi guys, Here's a quick question. I've just installed my MBH longtube headers, mid pipe with high flow cat and also their x pipe couple days ago. However, the x pipe is so thick that it is rubbing that horizontal metal piece when I drag the car or downshift. Is there anyway that I can solve this problem? Thank you very much!!!

Just remove it. The bar should not have been re-installed.

Hi MBH, so that horizontal metal piece is not an important part of the car? I thought it holds the two sides together or something like that. Thanks in advance.

I've had mine out for years, as well as most everyone else who has our headers. Including cars that have over 650 wheel horsepower. No issues. If you want I will make you a drop bar

Let me try to take that off first, and I will let you know if I need a drop bar to be made.

Oh, and one stupid thing my shop did is that they bend the X pipe a little bit so that they can re-install back the horizontal metal piece when they first try to install the xpipe. Do you think this is a big concern / problem that it will affect the air flow? Please see the picture below. Thank you very much for the after sales service.
