Took a stone to my fog light...

*sigh*... so its busted (well it works, but the glass is busted and fills with water).

Anyways, are the fog lights in our C63's the same as the standard c class ones. I found a few on ebay for around $30 to $50..

You might want to consider XPEL Headlight Protection.

I plan on putting on some protection after I get a replacement, but in the mean time, no one answered the original question, will std C class fog lights fit as a replacement on the C63.

Take a look on www.parts.com, they will show all the part numbers they may match.

I recently did a replacement on the right fog light on my CLS, same part number for the AMG and NA.

It's the same part as the "sports" foglight on regular C-Class, not the same as the "standard" foglight. The dealer gets about $300 each to replace them. Hopefully you can do better on E-bay or someplace else. After I broke both of mine within about a month (lots of freeway driving) I put on a double layer of Lamin-X and no problems so far (knock on wood). Nice of Mercedes to design these so that you have to replace the entire unit instead of just the lens. Even the dealer admitted that's it a total rip-off by Benz. My old M3 had a lens that you could remove and replace in about 2 minutes at a cost of $25.

I don't understand how a clear film on glass could necessarily "protect" it from a rock cracking it? A scratch yeah, but a rock flying at it is gonna break it no matter what.

yea i think it probably can protect against pebbles - a rock on the highway and your toast. Just be grateful it broke your foglight rather than dent and chip the paint on your hood.

Oh, trust me, I am very great full.. In fact.. I was more worried about the stone taking out one of the headlights...

As for the plastic coating.. while the glass may crack, it should atleast hold the pieces in place, and prevent a giant hole appearing like I currently have that fills up with water... Oddly enough, the bulb is still in tact and functioning...
