Gonna buy some Plasti Dip Spray tonight and blacking out front

Thanks to Faresuae and his advice, I am gonna buy some Plasti-Dip tonight and blacking out the front grill chrome section.

Can this be done with just masking the car and doing this without removal of parts? Any tips?

TIA big time.

i did it myself... removing the chrome can be difficult and you just gotta be careful... but it's definitely not a super easy DIY... time consuming

I would suggest doing it right, which means taking out the front grill.

DO NOT mask the car off! Take the grill out, at the very least. Better safe than sorry. Good luck!

I will listen to your guys advice, from what I see, even with overspray, you can just peal it away and it doesn't damage anything...

Do it yourself. I did mine with the Plasti-Dip. Definitely remove the grille, and chrome pieces. DO NOT SCUFF the chrome. Just clean it with soap, and water. Wipe it down with alcohol, and dry. Sparay light coats till you get the desired texture. I felt the farther away, the finer, and smoother the texture came out. If you dont like it, or mess up. Just peel it off. This is why you dont scuff up the chrome.

Quick tip. WArm the can up with a blow dryer, heat gun, etc, just a little bit. This will make it spray fine mist. When its cold it splatters out of the sprayer.

Im getting mine painted soon at a body shop I found recently - i know they say paint is susceptible to chips, but its not a daily driver and I put less than 7500 miles on it. My previous truck had a black out grill and had no chips so knock wood.

Please post pics when youre done - are you doing everything in black?

Thanks for that great tip obsidian05. Very true about a cold can...I NEVER thought of that but I did wonder how I was gonna work around it in my cold garage...

I am gonna just do the front grill to protect from rocks and just to give it a less "jewelry" look to the chromed out cars we already have. I bought a set or torx drives to remove the screws. I already did once for clear bra so I hate removing them again and loosening up the threads.

I will go ahead and remove the front grill pieces and mask off any undesired areas after alcohol wipes...

Excellent idea. Added girth and protect sack from friction. Can be used as a spray on condom when your already primed and ready.

I wonder if this can be used in place of a dental dam
