For our cars, besides aesthetics, is there a benefit to wider tires on stock wheels?

Im getting my KW V3s this week and wondering if the car will drive better with tire dimensions other than the stock ones (235-40 and 255-35), or if getting wider tires will improve the overall drive comfort of the car (as opposed to just looking better parked). I know there are threads on how wide you can go, but Im curious (as a layman) if I should get different tires now I will [soon] have coilovers and a drop. Thanks

I recommend you start your car, turn off your traction control, put your tranny into sport mode then floor your gas pedal. If you don't spin your tires, then your stock 255 tires are fine. :p lol 255 is waaayyyy too small for the amount of torque that our engine produces. 275 should have been the minimum size for the rear tires.

Wider tires = more contract with road = better grip.

My setup, like many others:
245/40/18 | 265/35-18

The handling definitely improved, but I don't think I'll be going any wider (at least not for performance reasons).

Anything W/4Wheels
what i runs for max grip is

235/40/18 Nitto NT05 $320
285/35/18 Nitto 555R DR's $490

thats what i do my daily driving on and it dont get any beter then that.

if you not a big fan of DR's then this is your next best set up

235/40/18 NT05 $320
275/35/18 NT05 $430

does are your best bet.

What size are the stock wheels? assuming not so wide if they only put on 255...if you put to wide of a tire on a rim it will affect the handling negatively

Stock wheels are 18x8 front & 18x9 rear. Most tire manufacturers list 9" as the minimum wheel width for 275 tires. By far the most popular set up seems to be 265/245 which is what I run. My track wheels are half an inch wider and I have R888's in 275 mounted which fill the wheel well to the limit.

I recently put on the Hankook EVO v12's in 245/265 and not only they fill the wheel wells perfectly, they also ride much much smoother and quieter than the stock rubber. While they are also stickier they give up a little steering feel and crispness in turn-in which I'm willing to trade for a DD. I'd say the C63 is now has the perfect blend of ride, handling, and grip for me.

What about 245/265 RE-11 or PS2? I am looking for better grip, but at the same time don't want to sacrifice cornering stability.

I'd also like to hear comments on 265 vs. 275. I'm about to order tires and want to make sure I'm getting the best setup.

Switching from 2065 tyres on rear to 275 made a world of difference to keeping traction in my car. prior to that even with 265 vs stock tyres of 255 i would struggle sometimes, particulalrly in wet conditions.

I think i have 285s Pirelli Corsas on back of my Black Series and they struggle sometimes, that thing is a beast !
