Possible part-out

Guys,

I have received a ton of PMs and emails asking whether I will be selling any of the parts I have on my car. Man, like vultures circling a dying beast!I am not sure what the status is as the new owner has not confirmed whether he wants the car in OEM form or with the mods I have done. My gut tells me that he will want the car in OEM form based on his asking about the original parts. As the car is been shipped overseas, this process is taking much longer than normal sale. If he wants the car in OEM form, then I will be sure having a "garage" sale of parts and will post in the classified section of the boards. As some of you know there is a ton of CF on the car as well as mechnical mods as well.

Will let you know what the deal is. Maybe I should just buy another C and start the madness all over again

Dave

The car is going back to the US ?
Is the shipping from Prague to the US worth all the hassle for the new owner?

Not going back to the US. I sold it to a guy in Australia. I am not sure if he will import it there as it RHD there or to somewhere in Asia where he has residences. He was telling me the prices in Australia and certain Asian countries and the prices are nuts even when compared to Europe. So I net+ on the deal.

After hearing about the prices demanded in certain other markets like Australia/Asia due primarily to taxes, I think we should all to these dedicated AMG owners! Their financial committment to own the brand is amazing!

Yes, We as North Americans have it good when it comes to buying things. Our buying power is tremendous and in most cases like yours both parties win.

I wasn't planning on selling it, but a chance meeting and a offer too good to pass up closed the deal. Matte black SLS on order with delivery in May. I still love the C63 for its aggressiveness and power/kg but will probably hold off on getting a new one until the BS is announced.

For some reason I knew it, I had the feeling that you would go for the SLS after all the AMG events, thats a dream car for me.

Great car for sure, but so very different from C63. It is so balanced and neutral that at speed it is very easy car to drive. Great power/speed/sound and I am sure I will love it.
I will however miss the "be respectful or I will bite you in the as-" attitude of the C63...for some reason the C63 has the personality that IMHO reflects the old attitude of the original AMG...killer power and attitude!

and with AU$ at close to par with USD! My hats off to you guys down-under for spending the $ to own these cars! BTW, I met the AMG/MB guy who runs the AMG events in Australia at the AMG Winter event in Sweden. Very cool guy...maybe he could set something up for MBW Oz members? Let me know and I will ping him and see if he can do something.

We aussies cringe at the prices of cars you guys pay. It's just unfair! A new ML63 runs about $185k on the road.

Basically there is a luxury car tax. It's 30% extra on anything over $57000

Don't want to sound downbeat, but the sale of your car sounds a bit suss.

Do you know the buyer? There are massive taxes applied to cars imported to Aus, thus making it not worth it.
In fact, it would be impossible to register your car here as it's LHD and also from a different market. The car is sold locally here already so cant register it.

Be careful, thats all!

Nice car by the way!

Agree that is completely unfair and no real need for it other than gov't simply taxing what they can.

On the sale of car, cash already in bank so I am not worried. Title has transferred. As I said I am not sure he will be importing it into Aus at all, but somewhere else maybe. Not really concerned as this is his issue. For all I know he might be reselling it onto someone else in different market. Car is sitting here waiting for flat-bed to pick it up and transport it to Rotterdam for shipment.

Congratulations on the SLS Harrower! If you do part-out I would be very interested in your interior trim and possible your carbonio intake
