Cleaning the exhaust tips.
So what do you guys use to clean the tips? I had some stuff that was great. It came in a short silver can with wadding that had the cleaning solution on it. My wife threw it away during one of her cleaning binges
& now i can't remember what it was called. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

That is the same stuff, I use. I would be asking to much, for the exhaust tips, not to collect so much carbon buildup.
my C63 is in pretty good shape, but my E63 they need work, I think I might need to use steel wool on them. Now, it's not the whole exhaust tip, just the very bottom lip.

+1 on blue-magic metal polish. It works unbelievably well and IMO is far superior to never dull & etc.
It works really well with a small powered orbital buffer and will give a perfect mirror finish when used with orbital.

Blue magic is great stuff but I find it a little too abrasive especially if you use force to clean high polish metal as it will leave swirl marks. I have had this experience with the Blue Magic and 3M metal polish. IMO Never Dull is more like wax for the metal, really leaves it very slick, but dosent have the abrassive cleaning power like the 3M or Blue Magic.

i just wipe mine clean every week with a wet towel that i used to dry the car. (after the car is dry of course) and i dont have any build up or any issues with that method. i guess if you dont clean them frequently then you might need some of the above suggested products.

Steel wool pad!
I just use a standard car wash detergent to get the soot off. Then I spray with an aluminum wheel cleaner and scrub with steel wool don't know the grade off the top of my head (the kind used on kitchen equipment) and the tips look good as new. Zero scratches from the wool and no dulling.

One more trick from the kitchen. Believe or not a solution of 70/30 water and vinegar. The acidic nature of the vinegar breaks down the carbon. Inside of the tips look like new, spray and wipe...........
