The naming convention never made any sense at all. We have a 6.2 liter engine, yet it's called a C63!

Considering I just looked at a 190E 2.6 16v, I would have to agree.

Looks good. But what the heck is a naturally-aspirated twin-turbo 5.5 liter V8 engine????

Outside of the effectiveness of this article, I am skeptical about the cylinder deactivation feature for the C63 coupe.

In the 5th generation Camaro SS, the "AFM" or active fuel management, formerly referred to by many as DOD ("displacement on demand") and referred to here as "multi-cylinder deactivation" is a real pain in the butt.

It creates an abnoxious and even a nausiating sound inside the cabin when the 8 cylinders switch to 4.

The SS Camaros that come with automatic transmissions have AFM and because of this, GM installs special resonators in the exhaust system to muffle the annoying sound that AFM generates.

Many people turn AFM off with aftermarket tuning.

I would hope that Mercedes and AMG could employ DOD with better results.

Don't late model S and CL-Classes with the 600 engine get that feature? Does it work?

tasho,
I would say the BS is going to be more of a purists car, stripped out, race suspension, increased sustainability like the CLK BS was made for, so I don't think value is so much of a issue as to the driving experience, after all, this is supposed to eat the M3, right?
