Fluid Motor Union (mid-section) getting built/installed this week
Hey,
I am getting Fluid motor union's Mid-section installed this week, they are currently fabricating it and I should be getting it installed later this week.

I have ordered the downpipes and X pipe from GT-pro and will install them this Saturday and dyno the before and after. I know both vendors advertise great gains but I will be happy if it gives me 10hp.
I know the sound is supposed to be a great improvement and that is the main reason why I am buying this and the fact that it is totally reversible and no cuts are involved.

If u do a search here custom downpipes were done to little effect if I recall. X pipe doesn't do a whole lot either. You'll mostly likely get a LT header type loudness, minus the headers. The big bottleneck by far in the exhaust system is the stock log manifolds.

If you are dynoing on a dynojet, bring a USB Flash drive so you can get copies of the runfiles.

I will have a USB drive with me in case they are willing to share the run files.
I am not sure I can get 3-4 passes as the heat would be a factor and time may be a constraint. I will let Jerry run the show.

Even money: I have listened to an car with MBH headers and that is not what I am looking for sound wise. I hope the downpipes do not mirror the MBH setup.
The other reason is that I was able to get a very very sweet deal on the downpipe and X pipe combo that I could not refuse.
Orientblue3: I hope the pipes will fit better. I will let every one know. Maybe it was just bad luck because there are other members that had no problems with GT-Pro's product.

It would have been easier and cheaper to use a new cross-brace ala MBH rather than fab extra pieces to clear the brace. Can't wait to see/hear your results.

A few
Sorry to jack the thread for a post, but I figured I'd just post our info in a thread already dedicated to this midsection, so it's all in one place.
Here's your TLDR version: 32.4 horsepower gain at the wheels.
Now here's the longest version: http://www.fluidmotorunion.com/archives/6258
Here are some pics of the midsection:
Replaces: Midsection from header flanges up front to resonator in the rear. Deletes the cats and replaces them with a custom-designed x-pipe.
Sounds: Angrier. Throatier. Closer to letting the beast off its leash (more pops on throttle let-up [in the good way], a more raw tone overall). At idle, almost unnoticeable, same goes for sustained driving under 50 mph.

Dyno chart:
Now before everybody jacks this thread to discuss the weird points of this dyno, allow me to address them:
-The power starts late because the interior was stripped so we couldn't manually keep it in third gear. Craig had to ease on the gas so the car wouldn't start taking matters into its own hands.
-The lines are jagged because the Merc's OBD port wasn't sending RPM information to the dyno as fast as other cars normally do. Since the Dyno was trying to read and interpret dyno information faster than the OBD port was giving it out, it kept making those jagged edges.
Rest assured, the OBD issue only affects the RPM count, as the HP and torque ratings are measured through the tractive force applied to the dyno rollers, so all the numbers you see are as accurate as possible. Dyno Dynamics always reads low after the new software update. Some shops call it "The Heartbreaker" for that reason.
I think I've covered just about everything. George loved it, but his words will mean much more than mine in that regard.
