AMS Autowerks here in NJ.. thing is though, I had my coils done in October, this fuel issue didnt start till recently. Feel like the dealer is trying to pull some shady ****, and make the easy blame on the coil install..

Don't stand for that. My dealer tried to say that my purge valve problem was due to my aftermarket intake air temperature sensor. Bull ****.
You would have known the DAY AFTER if your car smelled like gas. Just because it has an aftermarket part does not mean that the part/installation caused your new issue. If the time doesn't line up, have an intelligent conversation with them about it.
There's a much better chance that it is a fault part, than you not noticing the car smelling like a gas can for 2 months.
The shop is a business, and a warranty claim is a costly hassle. They will do anything in their power to avoid it, and they know the majority of their customers know jack about cars (and have too much money). If you bought and get your service from this dealership, I would leverage that.
I thought the gas tank is under all the floor boards...the rear coilovers don't even come close to there and aren't removed for installation but it's been a while since I looked for a gas vent. Get a 2nd opinion and ask to see what is broken, might not even be close and it might be replaceable vs a whole tank.
BTW dealer gets paid for warranty work, but if it's over a certain amount (1k?) I think they need a service manager to approve it. not sure though it shouldn't matter

If you pull the right rear inner fender liner you will see the gas tank vent lines in there with the evaporator canister and some other tank vent pieces. I think it is in fact possible for the vent system lines to be compromised during a coil over install. I am not saying that is what happened only that it may be possible to damage a vent line during a coil over install if you are not careful.
Well, the dealer is not hearing it. Took the car to the shop that did the coils, and we just glued the tiny plastic tube back to the box, and put some silicone around it. The break was very clean, so it went back together perfectly. Seems to have worked, i dont smell fuel anymore, and havent had a gas cap loose light. Dont know what caused the break, but im not spending $2224 on a new tank. Cant place blame on either party. Coil overs were installed in October, didnt smell fuel, or have any CEL till recent.
****ty way to design the tank with no replaceable hoses.

wow, that sucks, but it's nice to know what the problem was.
You're a lot more understanding than I am, I'd be getting a new tank and I wouldn't be the one paying for it.
But if it was a simple thing to patch, I guess you'll be fine.
Ok, so the vent tube fix seemed to have worked. No more fuel smell, and no more "gas cap loose light".
NOW i have code P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
I have stock filters, and charcoals removed, but its been like that since I bought the car with 5 miles.. Could this be because of the vent tube now working, and the car getting readjusted to the unburnt fumes being re-entered into the system?
This car is on my last nerve lately.. Never had one problem till now.
My thoughts are that once you remove charcoals and mess with air intake, leaness, and voids it's just all down hill from there and it's a nightmare figuring out what is wrong...
But, I don't think charcoals have anything to do with it. I've tried, charcoals in with full stock air intake setup, charcoals out with NA box tops, BMC's with charcoals removed in NA box tops, BMC's and stock filters with ROW box tops.
I've tried these different setups mainly for throttle response, sound and to see if CEL's would show up.
The only time I've ever seen a CEL was from the PV. I've never had a pending or stored code otherwise.
My car has had a multitude of other issues. The list is unfortunately long.
I saw this thread and found my CEL code P0455 and a strong fuel smell from the right rear tire. obsidian05e55 had coil overs installed on his car, and during the installation a evap line was snapped. Ditto with my situation on a W204 C300. Hence, the P0455. I have looked at the part diagrams available by an online genuine parts dealer. So, the issue is, I do not have a part number for the part in the photos I have uploaded. There is a number on the box, doesn't come up with anything. Maybe someone has some info. I epoxied the line back on, again a clean break, but I really don't see how it will last and it should be replaced. Any clues? Thanks in advance for any help.
BTW, I could totally see Mercedes requiring a fuel tank change if these parts come molded and pre-assembled. However, I sure hope there is some type of update to make these lines a bit more flexible.
The bottom line -
unit that could detach, but seems the lines are formed onto the device (Splitter of some sort)
Its attached to the fuel filler tube
This is all located in the right rear wheel well below the well liner and inline with a trip to the fuel tank.
Just wanted to say thanks for saving me a bunch of time and money. I had the same codes and fuel smell at right rear. I found this thread and pulled out the wheel well lining and found the exact same line broken. I don't have coil overs, but the car has a new control arm so I suspect there may have been some contact that caused the tire to smash the plastic parts. The fun of buying used... Hopefully some epoxy will do the trick.
I tried to clean my purge valve solenoid and while getting the damn thing off I tore a small hole in one of the L shaped rubber connectors... the one closest to the windshield that goes to another funny looking flying saucer looking thing...
it's a really small hole right in the crease of the L shaped connector... it started splitting and then when I got it off it had a little hole if I spread it... Does that matter much?
I'll see about getting a new one tomorrow, but until then should I even bother connecting everything up and driving it or?
