Purge Valve issue.
Thanks guys.
Walter

Maybe you need a new cap. If the seal is gone or distorted you will get that warning. Darn emission controls.
I thought if the purge valve was bad the engine would not idle or run well? Maybe that was another issue?

Replaced, and so far, so good. I did get banged over the head for first service though. $250 for Service A, and $150 for Diff fluid change.
Ah, the cost of enjoying my drives to, and from work.

Idiots.. They never checked anything, just tried to do a quick fix, so I guess it really is the Purge Valve. I may just purchase, and install a new one myself. Don't have time to be dealing with them. They took a 4 mile "test drive"

Would you mind telling me where the purve valve is located?

When they say it sticks open and causes a lean state, do you know if we can mechanically open it with our hands? Or will it only open under certain conditions?

By the way I am all for a home repair job. I cringe when they lug thier steel toe boots across my door frame and cloth door panel...
CS FTW!!

they provide a couple options
1. flip the rubber on the gas cap
2. stop overfilling your tank
3. clean PV with MAF cleaner and the tubes that attach to it
4. replace possibly
good luck

Tried cleaning my original PV, didn't help. So bought, and installed the updated one PN: 000-470-88-93. So far I took a 40 mile drive, and no warnings. Cost of the new PV $88.

I wish we could bill MB for DIY stuff like this--total BS that we have to resort to doing service ourselves because the dealer feels the need to treat our cars like $5 crack ******

I hope it's fixed now.
