Another tire size question
I've searched the thread's and done my research. I'm currently running OEM Continental ContiSportContact 235/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. After 5500 miles of sliding all over the road (seriously normal everyday driving) my rear tires are shot. I've decided to go with the Conti's ExtremeContact DW 265/35 for the rear. Will I experience any issues if I go wider in the rear and stick with the OEM size 235/40 in the front for right now? The front tires still have more life left and wasn't planning to replace just yet. When its time to replace the front which size should I go with if I'll be running rear 265's? Thanks.

if you are switching compounds you probably need to change all of them. 245/265 is what i like and have on mine. car turns and slides a lot better and more predictably. watch the inside edge of the fronts the rest of the tire will look fine but the inside will be worn pretty badly. usually you can run full, rears only, full. thats what ive been getting out of my star specs.

i am in the same boat..., what size shall i go?
2nd set of OEM rears shot with 14Kmls! i like the handling but would like to get a little more grip and if possible improved durability compared to OEM.
i am aware that the beast eats tires and i am ok with that but i know there are better options out there.
no track time. would like the looks of 275 rear definitely want to avoid rubbing etc so if this means 265 then so be it. i do not like to see the height of the tire change compared to stock though.
any suggestions?

i have oem 235/40/18 and 255/35 rear. i see many running 245/40 and 275/35 or even 40 but in my opinion that makes the tire look too thick. ok some will argue that handling is better and therefore looks should be secondary. on the handling grip is probably better but my experience with sizing up with tires on my previous M3 '02 was that corning is great but steering is heavier and not as crisp and precise. maybe 245/40 would work or 35 perhaps? and rears i would immagine 275 should drop to 30 to keep a comparable height. and than of course there is the issue of how far are the tires sticking out.
I cant make up my mind and i need to decide right now because my rears are totally gone! HELP please !

I'll be there with my 8 yr-old son soon after lunch - he seems to know more about cars than I. What color is your C63 and I'll search you out? Mine is steel grey.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I left the fronts stock and went to 265/35/18's on the back. Very happy.
Now I'm back to 255 stock size on the rears and I spin so much. I had forgotten how much going to 265 helps.
I went back to stock since I'll be turning the car in when the lease is up this summer.
