Bottomline the C63 is a pig! Not a big car but why so heavy?

I am not sure where MB says the curb weight is 36xx lbs. but that is not what the above sources indicate. Perhaps that is the dry weight of the car without fluids.

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...-C63/year-2011

Check the dimensions tab. 3649.

Lets see...

17 gallons gas = 136
Oil 17.5lbs
Coolant? No clue... 24lbs?
---------------------------------------
3826, not including diff and break and tranny fluid..

Yeah I guess 39XX without driver. They are just listing without any fluids... now I know.

I'm guessing that's why it's 2 tons. Makes sense. My Red Queen is a fat *****, but I still love her.

Sans driver? Pretty good fore/aft distribution, and excellent corner weighting.

Invested many an hour in a C32 to get anywhere close to those figures...with my 220-pound carcass aboard.

AMG
c32amg-dtm is correct, he showed the proper way to calculate it.

If you look at it from Mercedes perspective, Its much easier for them to probably just use an existing tune they have so It wouldn't be shocking if they just slapped a black series tune one the car because they probably knew aftermarket companies would figure it out soon enough. In doing so, they could retain some of the potential revenue that would have otherwise just gone to aftermarket tuners. its probably somewhere 500+.

For the record, Dyno dynamics is almost always 22% drivetrain loss on 2WD Benz AMGs (auto). Every AMG I have dynoed stock on DD has come back within 0.1% of 22% drivetrain loss so its pretty damn accurate/consistent. Dynojets are all over the place so its harder to tell but 18-19% is probably around the right number.

Benz sandbagged the car in order to prevent it from competing with the higher end AMGs. They just added ton of weight, and pulled out lots of tuning and voila.

annoying ... yet effective way of detuning a car.

Is this true? Any way to know for sure? I'd love to tell my M3 driving buddy that I have 100hp more than him.
I've run with 2 different P31 cars, and they're dead even with mine from 100-200ish. I've got the ECU as my only mod on my P30.

So either the P31's are pushing 500hp from the factory, or the ecu tunes only put out 481hp. Either way, they're equal.

I'd be more than happy to go for a run with ya since we're in the same city. Bring your M3 buddy out too.

Not equal until you run the 1/4. The P31 might be able to keep up up top but the 1/4 will give more details.
