Going south on the 405 back to LA, between Wilimington/Carson and the 605....something seemed to fly off someones front bumper, hit (or almost the car in front of me) and then right into my front grill and another part right on my hood i think also hitting my windshield and then over my car...also some paint damage on my hood

Bogus! This is why we need a hood mounted railgun.

The 405 is evil. I had something fly of someones car and get sucked under mine, only to cause $800 worth of damage.
It's always nice when the bodyshop changes all your FM station memory settings for you to Spanish stations.

Yours look like the repairs shouldn't be too bad.

Maybe this is an opportunity to add a custom bumper/lower grill?

Hood isnt bad, just a few nicks....I think the stuff is kind of minor, replacing the mesh - although I dont know if enough pieces are broken that I need an entire new bumper. I just dont want to hear any haggling by my insurance company.

Welcome to the club buddy!!! Mine is much worst but I am finally getting it fix this week after some debate and hesitation.

My repair was $329, that includes the part that you broke(front main grille) and radiator plastic air damn. How much is your deductible? Once you see my review you will find that Mecedes Benz actually cut corners as far ios building a bullet proof front grill. Look at my wife's VW jetta GLI front grill with similar design, it is at least 3 times thicker.

Good luck anyway.

Here are the pictures of my damage:

Deductible is $500...it's not even the damage that bugs me, it's the "getting it fixed", "dealing with insurance" and "not having my car" that kills me. I mean, I am so careful on city streets for potholes, dips, etc., and to have something like this..a random piece fly off someone's car, just annoys me. As some of the above posts indicated, it wasnt safe to swerve (i.e., worth putting mine or any other person/car in danger of being damaged) but I knew once it hit that I might be looking at the teeth of a boxer who just got nailed by a Pacquaio cross....ACGSD and Chapparone will handle it I know to the utmost degree so I have faith that my car will come out looking perfect.

I had to have mine replaced (as well as bumper damage) from my friend who reversed into my car.

The part itself is like $75 or something. If you are technically inclined, you could probably replace it yourself...

Sorry to hear about your incident. I was out in Japantown up in SF this weekend, and parked in a proper garage with good-sized spaces for dinner. When I returned, I found my front left fender with a 6-inch dent and what looks like a tire mark. No note left on my car.

It must be a bad month for accident avoidance in the C63

His car may have been a POS but it happens to everyone. Look at all the W208 CLK 430's with all the missing front valance strips...where do you think THEY come off?

Hell, I had a stock BOSCH euro corner light fly off my W124 on the highway.

It's part of life and cars.

You did the right thing. Never swerve unless 110% sure it is clear. Yesterday something similar happened to me, except I was lucky. The black trash bag was empty. Car in front swerved. I had a silver W203 C230 next to me so I wasn't able to avoid. I held on tight. Went right under with no sounds or shakes. When I got my destination, I inspected the vehicle and found no damage. Earlier that day I was almost scraped by a ****ing Civic. He changed lanes with only by half a car length ahead. Caught his move and firmly breaked. 60MPH road. In 2005 a truck drops a ****ing tire and I hit it in my C230 k with less than 500 miles. I was so depressed for a month. $5K+ damages. SC, intercooler, radiator, and of course the bumper. Don't feel too bad, could be much worse. And look at it this way, you are still able to post your accident. Glad you are safe.

BTW, depending on you policy, your deductible may only be 200, not 500. The uninsured motorist deductible could probably be used, I know I used it when my wifes car got smacked up in a parking lot and no one left a note. But that option may also vary by state and insurance company.

Naw couldnt get it since it was two cars in front of me (I believe) -- because i saw it fly back and hit the one in front of right before it got me...it basically slid underneath his truck and before I realized what it was, it was too late.

Yeah, s**t happens...Im ok and that is the most important thing vis a vis my situation (Im also glad it seemed no one else on the road was affected). The damage itself doesnt bother me, just the hassle of getting work done. But um..maybe this is a sign I need the REVOSPORT bumper!!!!

it's a PITA the bumper cover has to come off.

I broke mine on a snow bank or something over the winter.

Sorry too hear since you take such good care of your ride. Even bad events sometimes have a silver lining. Took a rock on the windshield of my already pitted to hell 993. I had the glass deductable buy back so got a new windshield for free. Get a good insurance claim a get a the REVO bumper.

But let it be noted that the driver was not only drunk, but fell asleep at the wheel too T_T

And my car is still in the shop!
