Cargraphic header vs LTH design - results
Cargraphic header vs LTH design - results
I previously had CarGraphic headers (possibly copies according to a faceless user) fitted to my car. I changed the headers to DiFillipo LTH and attached it the rest of my CarGraphic set up. Today I had the oppurtunity to redyno it.
First off, the new header is a full LTH. Where as the Cargraphic a mid length header. Pipe size on both is 1 3/4 inch. The collector on the DiFillipo looks to be 3inch with a 3inch flange conection. Where the header attached to the motor, on the CarGraphic header it looks to have a better design as it's tappered down smoothly to 1 3/4inch, where as on the DiFillipo it looks a little rough. I don't know if this would make a difference though.
Results. Well the new header made +30rwhp in the top end. Down low and mid range it was on par with Cargraphic but from about 5000rpm where the Cargraphic levels off or drops the new header kept climbing. Torque wise, same story though from about 4000rpm it holds more torque though peak torque was slightly more with the cargraphic. Same goes with the FtLbs.
I do have a dyno sheet which I can not put up at the moment but I will tomorrow. I ended up making 441rwhp on a dyno dynamics dyno.
Tomorrow I plan to take it down the 1/4 mile. My previous best was 11.90@ 120mph Best mph of 121. That was just driving out of the whole. This time I will stall it up on the convertor and try for 1.7 60ft and a 11.7.
Hope the post above helps for comparrison of LTH vs A MidLenght header. I assume with MHP 1 7/8in header more power is to be had.
So my mods now is
difillipo lth
cargraphic cat back
k&n filters
gruppeM intake into stock airbox

That seems like a nice gain up top given the fact that you modified your Cargraphic collectors to be more of a long tube design. It will be interesting to see your dyno and track results.

Quite a decent gain on the top.

You were you were very lucky to aquire a set of these headers, over 200hours dyno time went into testing and devolping these headers, they are the best in the business. It will be too loud with that cat bak you have, you need to the rear half to complete that system & the proper note,as right now it would sound ridicoulosly loud, not a sound matched to a $165k car.

I dont think i will be able to provide any better quality photos soon.
Results tonight, well... some good, mostly bad. Track prep was ****!!!! the worst i have ever experienced at Willowbank. Just driving it off the line i wheelspun. Best 60ft was 1.98. Best et was 12.020 @ 116mph with a 1.9 60ft though i hit rev limiter twice and backed off just before the finish line as i thought the run was bad. How ever i was consistently over 120mph. Previously i was running 118mph consistently. I did go a 12.3 @ 123mph, with a 2.2 60ft. The weather temp was about 25-6c with track temp a little higher. I did see my intake temps hit 40plus degrees. Overall, i feel the car is doing better as its trapping higher with ease and alot of **** driving. I could not put it all together for one run, as i would either wheelspin too much off the line or id hit rev limiter. Thats racing i guess.

When we did the exhaust devolpement,we tried all sorts of combinations,
- Headers only with stock system
- Headers & cat only with stock system
- Headers & cats and front section with stock rear half
- Stock front section with 3 inch cat back
- Stock front section with 2.5 inch cat back
- Rear Mufflers only
- Headers & cats with rear mufflers only
- 1 7/8 headers
- The above is just some of the combinations we treid, but to answer your question, long tube headers only ?,i would say no as the headers only doesnt work with the stock system as the stock system depends on the stock headers and the 2 cats to muffle the exhaust note & keep exhaust gas velicity in the pipes.By placing long tubes headers only is like running striaght pipes, its the worst note you will ever hear with lots of drone followed with very lazy throttle response due to lack of exhaust volocity. My recomendation is,either put a full system on or just simply remove the secondary cats .

As promised ,
heres some better pictures of the headers, alot of time and money & developement went into the design of the headers, they are dyno and track proven and tested.

I can definately confirm these headers rock!!!! Went out with a few mates tonight for a bit of a play. A couple of my mates would always edge me out previously. Not tonight. I have gained about a car length atleast in power, which works about spot on with the increase in power im now making. Having gone up against a couple of cars that have run 124mph over the 1/4, guess who was in front????? good times.
