Leather jaacket stained my seats!
One of my buddies was riding shotgun and was wearing a leather (probably fake) jacket. After we got out of the car, the seat was completely discoloured (black leather now has grey-ish sections). It appears leather reacts when in contact with other wet leather.
Have any of you seen this before, and if so how did you deal with it? From minimal research it appears basic leather cleaners, alcohol, and soapy water don't work.
Please help!

The best solution is to avoid friends with fake-leather jackets (and dark denim jeans)![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Just get a leather cleaner like this one:
Meguiar's Gold Glass Rich Leather Cleaner

Thanks guys.
I had a bottole of the Maguire's stuff, so I just tried that. Did four coats, and I'd say the seat is about 8/10th's of the way to where it was. Here are some pics, but it's difficult to truly see (due to my bb camera).
Before:

After:

I'll do it again later in the week, as well as ask my detailer. I'll order some cream type products for safe keeping.
I'm still amazed that a wet leather jacket can cause this...

This doesn't just occur with fake leather, my wife had a brand new leather Ralph Lauren black belt on one day and it bleed into my brand new coupe's stone leather seat; the dealership's shop foreman took pitty on me since the car was one week old and ordered a new seat cover as a courtesy and all was good again, bought him a nice bottle of his favorite spirit as thanks.

I guess I'll watch out for wet leather jackets. I would've thought there would be a protective coat on the leather that would prevent this...
Either way, it's starting to look better.

Hmmm... took it to the detailer today and they weren't too happy with it. Basically after the maguire's set in, it's not looking too good again. I'm going to try that Z-10 stuff, and then if that doesn't work, I'll get a upholstery place to stain it.
I'm surprised this can happen. I would have thought a lot of people wear leather jackets...

The Z10 is awesome stuff but it won't clean stains, it just conditions the leather and makes it smell new again. They also have a leather cleaner which is also excellent but im not sure it will get that sort of stain out. http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...oduct_Count=14

The more conditioner type goo you rub into the leather the more strong chemical cleaning they'll need to do before they respray the seat. Even those conditioners that offer a non shinny finish have some sort of oil or similar in them. I avoid using anything other than a slightly damp cloth to clean my leather seats and unless the car bakes in the sun all day I wouldn't use anything else in the future. I prefer the matte finish the leather comes from the factory with and one of only ways to come close to preserving it is as mentioned. Once the seats get shinny from clothing rubbing against the leather and conditioners rubbed in it becomes more and more difficult to get back the factory matte finish.
You had also asked earlier in the thread if the seats came coated with anything from the factory, I was told by my leather guy that after the leather is dyed a clear coat is applied, this clear coat can be stripped away when using alcohol on the leather so never use it to try and remove stains.

Ok i am pretty worried about my seats cause i am a fat kid lol and i worry that cause i am heavy the leather will crack early in the cars life like you see almost 100% of the time on old cars with leather.
i condition my seats all the time with meguiars in pre made cloth form from canadian tire
in the hopes it slows down the cracking from my fat ***.
So is there anything you guy reccomend for saving my seats and how much would a factory seat cost to replace?
