Magnetite Black (183) color on 2012 C63.
Anyone ever seen this color before? Magnetite Black (183)
It's available as one of the paint options for 2012 C63's.
Obsidian Black, which is what I ordered mine with is not listed, and shows up on my order as (Special Order)... Wonder if that will delay production of the car?
Code Paint Color Cost
040 Black $0
183 Magnetite Black $0
497 Cuprite Brown $0
590 Mars Red $0
650 Arctic White $0
775 Iridium Silver $0
779 Sapphire Grey $0
792 Palladium Silver$0
794 Pearl Beige $0
799 Diamond White $0
890 Lunar Blue $0

Sapphire Grey = Alabandite Green/Alabandingrau in Germany. It's basically Palladium Silver with a green undertone.
Lunar Blue = Cavansite Blue in Germany. It is a replacement for Tansanite Blue (359) and it's much less purple.

Miserly mpg, exhibitionist torque (i.e. Q5 TDI)
I ordered Sapphire Grey on my 2012 thinking it would be the closest equivalent to the now unavailable Steel Grey. I'm unaware of any Sapphire Grey photos on the net. Any sense if Sapphire Grey and Steel Grey are anything close to one another? I'll have to run some searches on the German color you cite.

FYI, my order included diamond white, BUT, because of trouble in Japan the production has been severely stalled.
The next delivery is yet at this point unknown. Thus i guess it's gonna be magnetite black for me as well..or lunar blue

Bah, those photos shrunk like a mother for some reason when I attached into the post. You can see larger versions here:

This is a new color for the S-Class Sedans. This color is not availble on any other of the MB line currently.

Just ordered a 2012 C63, went in to the dealer today to service my other car, decided to check out the colour while I was there.
Word of warning to those wanting to order magnetite black without seeing it first - the blue tinge is VERY noticeable under any light. I went in today and the sky was very overcast, but the blue was still very prominent. Definitely NOT a "dark grey".
If any of you are thinking of ordering the colour, I recommend that you SEE IT IN PERSON FIRST!
I ended up sticking with obsidian black (can't go wrong with that)

I haven't seen it in person but it sounds like a darker version than the Metallic Steel Grey which has lots of blue in it. Hard to beat black. However black is not a color, it is an obsession.
